BANGKOK: -- The Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) this morning announced today on TV Pool saying ASEAN backs the February 2 election in Thailand.

Reading a statement over TV broadcast by CAPO head Surapong Tovichakchaikul, also deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister, he said nine ASEAN countries have thrown support for the holding of general elections in Thailand on February 2 next year reasoning that it was a democratic mean to resolve the country’s problems.

He claimed that all the nine ASEAN countries supported the election after their ambassadors were invited by CAPO to hear the briefing of the current political situation in the country.

So far he claimed that a total of 45 countries have supported the February 2 election in Thailand.

Surapong’s claim earlier drew anger from demonstrators and protest leaders who said they would protest these countries which vowed to support election in Thailand reasoning that it was the interference of Thailand’s internal affairs.

The US embassy will be the first to face protest by demonstrators today.

Completely in line with a strategy that is very common among criminals, Thaksin's cousin Surapong is telling half the truth.

Truth is that most countries prefer elections, but truth is also that most countries agree that Thailand does need some serious reform urgently.

Would within 90 days be considered urgently?

45 countries voice support for Thailand to seek solutions through democratic means

BANGKOK, 16 Dec 2013 (NNT) – 45 countries have so far voiced their support for Thailand to seek political solutions through democratic means.

According to Foreign Minister Surapong Tohvichakchaikul, nine ASEAN country leaders gathering in Japan during December 13-14 expressed their concerns over the prolonged conflict in Thailand and suggested that Thailand solve the problems through democratic means.

Mr. Surapong said all ASEAN members had been closely monitoring the situation and they all believed that stability in the kingdom of Thailand was essential to the formation of ASEAN Community.

So far, 45 countries around the world have called for all parties to the lang-drawn political upheaval in Thailand to thrash out their differences in a peaceful manner through talks.

yes they are over reacting to the US statement which I interpret as offering a very neutral perspective showing support for neither the government or the protestors - which to me is actually a snub for PTP the government - what all these government letters state is "upholding of the law" yes they stated YS called for an election - nowhere does it say they support it.

Dont think so, they want the "Status Quo".

1.) They have some agreements which can be resolved.

2.) They dont want a peoples revolution against this Government, can be an example for some other. In Europe, Italie, Greece and Spain are candidates for a step like this. rolleyes.gif

New elections = same results, (maybe with less of a majority if farmers don't get paid for rice),

all the same problems will raise their ugly heads, corruption, nepotism,a government whose sole

purpose seems to bring the great leader back, all whitewashed, reimbursed plus interest, who

will once again be PM (like nothing happened), free to reek havoc on anyone who he thinks

did not support him in the past.

This on going fighting, repeated again and again ,tearing the country apart will NEVER end,

until the megalomaniac is gone for good ,one way or another.

Ok.

Then what? All this was going on before TS was even born. Do you think if he dies in an accident today that all this would be over?

Bad guess. Welcome to Never Never Land Alice.

And how does that matter what other countries prefer?

Does UK, or USA, or China, or Russia care what Thailand prefers for their elections?

I think the rice payment is now on the way and there are rumors that this time there will be more money.

Just more spin from "honest joe" head of CAPO. This is Thaksin's cousin, the same man who illegally issued a new passport to his criminal fugitive cousin and refuses to answer for it.

More white lies from the party that brought you the "littler fibber" finance minister and can't help themselves so cheat through parliament even when their majority is big enough not to have to. The party that considers telling lies is "ethical".

They will spin anything to try to persuade people they are legitimate.

Capo: the captain in the mafia. Try replacing all 'CAPO' words in the write up and replace with 'Mafia Captain'. Funny but actually has the same tone in reality.
