New Years Gift for the GF

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have since been made aware that New Years day is also considered a Thai gift giving holiday. Can anyone recommend a place (obviously jewelery, probably gold) in Pattaya/Jomtien where I won't lose an arm and a leg and has a decent selection. We have been together 6 months now and it's going in a good direction, I don't know jack squat about anything in this field and appreciate any info.

Who told you that our new years is a gift giving holiday here in Thailand?

I actually inquired on the general TV forum figuring I'd be proactive and not be blindsided and that's what I was told.

1 baht gold should set you back around 18,000 baht. She'll like it, as she can sell it if the relationship goes tits up!

Oy, be steady my heart!!!

Remember, after New Year, there's Valentine's Day, Songkran, Easter, Loi Krathong and many other Buddhist holidays where she'll remind you it's a "gift giving holiday".

If you start with gold, it will never end.

Brabo has a good point !!! tread slowly JW , test the waters with something small , relationship is young ... see how much she appreciates the smaller things in life ........ Buy a condo now and you could be up for a Super Yacht by Song Krang ........... Chokdee thumbsup.gif

Point taken, Thanks

Your g/f (?) is talking utter crap.

Nip this BS in the bud now, or make a rod for your own back, either way I dont really care.

Up to you, personally I think she is playing head games with you.

If you want to play her little games, ask her what she will be buying you.

For Thai girls, Christmas and New Year are both gift giving holidays!

Wrong, 365 days a year is gift day IF you fall for it...............coffee1.gif

Cut out the intermediate gifts just buy the house and car in her name right now and have done with it

Don't forget to buy the studio condo on a high floor with a suitable balcony for yourself

One suspects head games is the reason the op is involved with his teerak anyway

Yes, New Years Day gifts are expected...

The Lunar New Year... & Chinese New Year... & Songkran, & not forgetting Xmas.

Of course do not expect a gift in return.

If you plan on spending 10000 baht............spend 5ooo baht on gold and she will give you your freedom for the rest of the day where you can spend the other 5000 baht as you please. Don't be surprised though when you return that the gold has been misplaced or sold. Happy days!

No gift required, seriously

Give her a smile and tell her phom raak khuun maak maak-if this is not enough say bye bye thumbsup.gif

Wait until you see what she's bought you for Xmas and pro-rata her gift accordingly.

She might not like a bunch of bananas..............whistling.gif ..................laugh.png
