I at present have a Non Immigrant O visa Multiple Entry (retired person visiting on proof of receipt of UK pension) which was issued on 1st May 2013 at Hull.

I have been in and out of Thailand several times since June this year and at present sorting out stuff here in the UK (brrrr ha ha ha). I plan returning to the Kingdom in February on my current visa.

But I plan staying beyond the expiry of my current visa (of course complying with the 90 day stamp in my passport) so the question(s) is/are:

Can I renew my current visa from within Thailand before it expires? If so where?

If the answer to that is no - then where/how can I obtain a new visa upon expiry of said current visa?

Are there any other options open to me bearing in mind I have limited savings in the bank so qualifying for retirement residency is out of the question.

I have tried to find out these answers for myself but as usual find both the Hull and the London Embassy web sites hopelessly confusing!!!

Grateful in advance for any advice.

If you cannot meet the financial requirements for an extension of stay based on retirement the options are limited.

The visa cannot be renewed !

You may be able to obtain another visa in Laos but I am uncertain as to the detail. Someone else will be along soon with greater knowledge.

Delaying your return is an option as another Multi entry Non Immigrant O visa could be obtained in the UK

Edit

NB

If you can demonstrate an income of 65,000 Bht/month ( approx £1300/month) you could qualify for for an extension of stay using that income which would need to be "certified" by the British Embassy in Bangkok.

I have the same Visa from UK and on the day before the visa expired I flew down to KL and back and was given another 90 day stamp at BKK so the advice below is proper pucker .

Exit and enter before 1st May 2014 and get another 90 days.

OK I already knew I could get 90 days as long as I re-entered before the expiry date of the 12 month visa. But that doesn't really answer my Q(s) as I wish to know what happens after the validity of my current visa expires. In other words do I have to go back to the UK to get another 12 month visa in the same category or can I obtain it elsewhere even if it means an exit and re-entry from Laos for example.

I expect that the answer would be useful to you too.

AFAIK, recent reports indicate that you might not even be able to obtain a multiple entry visa, if over 50, even by returning and applying at HUll. They indicate that Hull must send the paperwork to the London Embassy and they are not issuing this visa but are requiring applicants to apply for an O/A visa and the money, police clearance, and medical certificate are required.

If you don't have a Thai family the best that you can expect locally is a double entry tourist visa in Laos, but who knows what the regs will be in 6 months.

Are you just in receipt of the UK State Pension or an occupational one as well?

And if your total monthly pension income was below the equivalent of 65,000 THB, could you really not scrape enough together in your bank account to seek a retirement extension based on the "combi" method of proving finances?
