Jittery Mouse

Featured Replies

Just bought a new Logitech wireless mouse / usb and it is very jittery, hard to pin down those clicks

Any info please

Is it a faulty mouse/usb

Unless you have a very old and slow machine, or it's extremely heavily loaded, these things tend to just work.

Before you take it back as faulty:-

Do you mean the pointer moves too fast or in jerks?

Too fast you can fix in Control Panel.

If it's jerky try plugging the receiver into a different USB port and don't use a hub.

Try a new battery in the rodent.

Do you have a wired USB mouse that works OK?

What surface do you have the mouse on? Try a mouse pad or newspaper.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

If the mouse has dust or other residue on the output or detector lense it can cause these issues. Try wiping the underside with a soft cloth or towel and check again.

Otherwise, as Crossy says, take it back and exchange it.

Try downloading and installing the latest version (6.XX) of Setpoint from the Logitech website. Had a similar issue recently particularly when using Chrome browser, and it sorted it.

Setpoint should fix the problem. After you install it there is an Logitech extension from the Chrome store you need to get if you are a Chrome user.
