Dogs and rental properties

Featured Replies

Hi

We are looking at bringing our dog with us when we move to Chiang Mai. She is a well trained house dog [about 20kg]. The letting agents seem to be suggesting that owners will not really be that happy about having a dog inside there place, only outside.

We are looking at a house not a condo, so there will be no building restrictions.

Has anyone had any experience of this, or is this just speculation on the part of the letting agent.

thank you

I have three dogs (14kg, 22kg, 37kg). They all live inside. I have never had a problem renting a house. I've been in Thailand for almost four years and lived in four different houses. Sure, some people don't want dogs, but I was very clear from the beginning: "I have three dogs and they live inside" - The realtor found me a house with no problem (and my budget wasn't very large either)

If you're up front you should find a place without too much grief, after all this is barking dog land.

You could offer an additional security deposit against damage or mess if you find a place you like.

Great thank you for the replies. It did seem a bit strange that all owners wouldnt allow dogs.
