BANGKOK: -- Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban kicked off his fourth day of Shutdown Bangkok this morning from Lumpini park along Silom road amid cheers, hand claps, from thousands of vendors, residents and white-collar office employees blowing whistles and giving donations to support his protest.

The leader of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) started his 5.4 kilometer loop walk at 9.00 a.m. to invite Bangkokians to join his Shutdown Bangkok protest campaign to oust the caretaker prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Security for the PDRC leader was heightened with more than 100 guards as fear of being arrested by the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO).

Protesters will take the route from Silom to Narathiwat Rajanakarin, Surawong, Nares, Maha Nakhon, Siphaya, Rama IV, Bantad Thong, Rama 1 to join another protest site at Pathumwan intersection.

Meanwhile, another group of anti-government protesters led by Abbot Luangpoo Buddha Isara marched from Chaeng Wattana road to Muang Thong Thanee where they learned that the caretaker prime minister was holding a security meeting to assess the protest situation.

The protesters intended to disrupt the meeting.

At the same time, another large group of protesters from Lard Prao intersection is also marching to encircle the PTTEP head-office on Vibhavadi road and the Expressway Authority of Thailand on Phaholyothin road.

The encirclement of government offices is aimed at paralyzing the government and making it a “failed” government.

Common' Unions, call a general strike and let's get this over with. It will only take the Longshoremen and railroad workers and some Government workers, if they want to bring to Government to it's knees within a week. Throw in the air traffic controllers and Ms. Yingluck will be running for her plane to Dubai, real quick and all this will be over within a few days wink.png

This Asian looking Harold Bishop is becoming tedious.

The administration will always hold the great advantage of all the resources of power at their disposal. The protest movement - armed with whistles, broad smiles, and a conviction that history is on their side - complete this dueling visions of the country. The fact that this movement has managed to back this administration into the stalemate that it's in - unable to exercise the full power of the purse in dissolution, with a looming election ushering a still-born parliament - is indeed a significant accomplishment. The administration has no where to go - either now, or a month from now - no map for going forward.

Umm yes Scamper, but what if the electorate back this administration in a couple of weeks time?

Isn't it great?

Something new every day!

Now a shutdown-street- march!

Why?

Maybe because the shutdown-sit around isn't working that well, is it?

Whats next?

A shutdown- fly by?

Umm yes Scamper, but what if the electorate back this administration in a couple of weeks time?

Which of course they will,by a landslide as there is basically no opposition.

Suthep's masters will dump him and find someone else to start the whole stupid process over again.

4 days down 361 days to go, and this is getting boring. Just how will these people pay their depts? If this scenario goes on indefinitely? How are they going to pay their cars, homes, buy basic necessities, send money to their families and most importantly how are they going to pay their Gigs?

Infact, it is the fifth day,- and people have adapted after some initial hesitating: The streets are clogegd up like on any "normal" Friday (but also not more), whereever the demonstrators are supposed to walk by, the office people and food hawkers etc. are standing at the roadside, making noise, waving the national flag and look happily antissipating the arrival of the demonstrators. Have seen it two days in a row from of my home.

And I don't think it will need to last much longer, as the pressure on Khun Yinglucky is rising every day. Now she seems to be held responsible for all what went wrong with the rice pledging. Officials tell her to resign and she tries to evade the EC member trying to talk to her. Why? Because Big Brother is so far away, still he doesn't allow her to find some relieve by resigning from politics altogether.

For the sake of the rice farmers, let's hope she steps down real soon now, so that the technocrats can restart the business of runnig the country.

They were marching since Monday, they came down my street on Monday morning and a great many people came rushing out of their houses cheering and blowing whistles, people in businesses came out blowing their whistles. They have far more support than many here realize, but they are armchair warriors watching on tv.

Fourth day? Musn't that be the Fifth-day?

Yeah! They started Monday and today is Friday.

This news is suppose to be for yesterday. So its the 4th day yesterday.
