The cops here are very good at their job when they want to be.

Problem is usually no one makes it worth their while, they get paid a lot more to abstain.

Too well connected to keep the case alive, will live in silence and don't worry about his well being..... white-washers at this level have their insurance prepared.

Last week I it was reported he had come back to Thailand because he knew no one would be focusing on him now. THis was a Thai news report, and I later searched in English but couldn't find any reports so don't know if true.

Actually the cops are brilliant at their job,.... collecting money at traffic stop shakedowns!

"he seems to have vanished off the front pages .another felon who escaped justice ???"

Not sure what the connections is between newspaper front pages and justice. The jails are full of people whose conviction and sentencing never hit the front page and there's no shortage of more compelling news at the moment.

Of course in some cases the absence of any definitive news for many years is suggestive of police incompetence:

The last I heard and it's been a couple of months ago. He was at his place in California near Lake Elsinore. He has a very large and influential following in Southern California.

The Monk IS NOT in California; he is hiding out these days in Laos and has been there for many months. The DSI went into Laos uninvited and without permission to try and arrest him at the Temple where he was continuing to ply his trade, very successfully it seems, and that is when he was last seen flying away in his personal 'Copter, after being tipped off by person's unknown, such person's believed to be of high standing in Thailand. What the DSI did caused a 'diplomatic incident' to occur between the two countries but that was all quickly hushed up. He is now at another Temple and has a very large following of locals plus Thai's that are still going to see him at regular intervals across the border. You can't keep a good conman down.

The missing Gold is apparently in the hands of a very high ranking military officer who cannot be approached by 'Law Enforcement Agencies ' (chuckle ), as he is out of bounds to minions.
