I'm sure I'm not the first person to have been through the 3 month, then 4 month, coming on 5 month wait for a new car. (while of course the people deciding who gets what car when do very nicely).

When I last got on this little merry-go-round I at last lost my rag and sent and email to the Japanese headquarters of the car manufacturer.

The email was entitled 'Why won't @o%d* sell me a car' and included a statement that I had ordered the car over four months earlier but had been told I needed to wait another month.

Within two hours I had a call from @o%d* in Bangkok and less than an hour later I had a second call to tell me my car (exactly to specification) would be available for me the next day at xxx dealer (not the dealer I had ordered from).

So somebody else got bumped on the queue.

In this instance, the squeaky wheel got the grease.

Here in Thailand the squeaky wheel often gets replaced.
