I sure hope that anyone who tests positive looks much further into it and has multiple tests. HIV Tests are not standardized from Country to Country. You can test positive in Thailand and then go to France and test negative.

Totally meaningless but many bar owners will ask for such a "health certificate" before they are hired to work in their bar.

Anyhow, a person can be infected and may not show any effects of HIV at all for 6 months or even a year after their infection.

And all that time they are a carrier and may be spreading HIV around.

The figures look improbably high to me when compared to UK for example which has a higher population,better detection rates, and where the illness is mostly now a chronic disease. I have to declare that I don't buy in to the AIDS movement at all, but after all I don't know nor does anyone else on this thread as it is a highly specialised area.

In answer to an earlier poster, no I honestly don't know anyone who has contracted HIV and have known people with some pretty dangerous habits. I have met people who do know Thai relatives but it very soon transpires that substance abuse is part of the picture.

It is dangerous to bandy around odds on contracting any one infection, this is because infections tend to be spread by super carriers, come in to contact with one of them and you could be looking at almost certain infection, doesn't matter about statistics or clever argument. Thus I would not seek to minimise chances despite my reservations about HIV.

The "bar owners" should require the tests be from a reliable hospital or clinic like Bumrungrad or the Red Cross. It is also possible to conduct their own on site testing.

The better tests nowadays will almost always (well over 99% of the time) indicate the "effects of HIV" after 4 weeks of being exposed. With the best tests it's about 2 weeks.

As most statistics quoted in the media here are misinterpreted or pure <deleted> I wouldn't trust these either.

Looking at this list the Thai number is very low given the amount of people that fuc_k around in Thailand compared to the other 3 countries.

I was wondering if the lower ratio in the UK and AUST has anything to do with the general sex appeal of the women there.

Yes, that's part of the issue. Also prominent reasons: Extreme selfishness coupled with callousness. I'm referring mostly to men who don't use a condom. For them, getting their dick dipped and having as much sensual pleasure as possible, even if it's 11 seconds ....is paramount. All else is secondary.

If the female gets a disease, so what. If she gets pregnant, so what. The most important thing is scoring pussy.

Plus, in Thailand, there are no legal repercussions for spreading STD's or for abandoning and/or providing no support for a child you sired. There is no such thing as court-ordered child support.

Thanks for being frank about your condition, and I say that sincerely. I had a live-in g.f. mid-20's, for nearly a year. We were friends before, and are even better friends now that we're not shacked up. She is hill tribe and tests positive for HIV. She got it being born to HIV parents, both of whom where junkies. Her and I always had protected sex, and I much appreciate her being honest with me about that very personal issue that she didn't have to tell me about. Also; her 11 year old son has some recurrent staph infections on his arms and legs.

I think for 'thaibasilandchilli' the best policy is honesty, as you did in your post. If you lied, and shacked up with a gal, she would eventually know, and you'd be doubly screwed. In California, I knew a couple who were both HIV, but they still used condoms. He got it from being a hemopheliac/injections.
