They going to enforce it then? Idiots was not strong enough a word. These people have no clue as to what it means to give up your voting rights for all time.

Luckily.. Yingluck will protect their rights for them during this period of insanity.. ooopss sorry, should I mention Period with all those eductate medics. Remember how they sniggered about it last month. They had no end of fun snearing about her periods, sanitary towels and vaginal surgery did they. Oh how we laughed..... at them, not with them smile.png

They think they got the timing right and it will pressure the Government. All it does is show their allegience to Suthep!!!

It is clearly not strong enough a word for you and the other red sheeple here. As for the health professionals adding their voice to the dissatifsfaction at being ruled by a fugitive and his puppets who are only in it for their self gain, good on em for taking a stand ! The tide is turning and soon the Shins will be gone. Then you will have to find another band wagon to jump on.

These are not "health professionals"

Ttake the time to learn about the health society because you made the false assumption that health professionals are speaking out, when nothing of that nature has occurred. Do you think people in white coats on TV selling cosmetics are actual scientists?

What a ridiculous thing to say and lets face it most thinking people would find it odd that people would voluntarily give up rights taken for granted all over the world to be ruled by an appointed committee headed by a deeply corrupt scoundrel with far worse democratic credentials than Thaksin

What a ridiculous thing to say that "most thinking people" would find any Thai politician in recent history has "far worse democratic credentials than Thaksin".

According to the man himself,he doesn't believe in Democracy,at all!

A statement from the health society said members of the society would perform civil disobedience by refusing to exercise their voting right.

And how many members would that be? 1 or 5?

Are all members of the society forced not to go vote and will otherwise lose their jobs?

Or is only the leader of the society not going to vote?

A worthless piece of pro-Suthep propaganda.

How typical. Someone or some organization does something that the Shinawatras and their acolytes like you don't like and so they're labelled as 'Thaksin haters' or they're in some way wired into the underground Democrat or ammart network! We've heard it all before! Thanks for the conspiracy theory. clap2.gif

You don't know anything about this society do you? Do you know what they do? Are you aware that it is the equivalent of a lobbying group? The society does not represent individuals but the business entities such as the Bangkok for profit teaching facilities.

Who cares what they are? They believe in something, they do it.The problem is when some organization does something contrary to what the Shinawatras want, they're labelled as part of the ammart network. Are you saying all business entities and teaching facilities are tied in with the Dems and the ammarts?

It's painfully obvious there are lots of posters on the thread that don't know anything about the society; including one fool who thinks it's just the government public health ministry.

That they nothing of how it operates doesn't stop them from demeaning their practices, even if they don't know how the society goes about making its official statements.

Another silly poster guesses and calls the society amart, without any evidence.

Some take a stab in the dark and call it a lobby group, with no supporting evidence.

Funniest was the guy who mislabels a school as for profit, as if there are schools that don't. Which medical schools is he besmirching? We don't know because the schools aren't named. But that doesn't stop the clown from labeling whatever schools are involved as for profit.

You ask totally unresearched questions and then draw some hare-brained conclusion before finding or waiting for any answers. Pretty worthless post IMO.

All your comment shows is your slavish devotion to a clan bent on total political dictatorship

What a ridiculous thing to say - someone disagrees with these people, and lets face it most thinking people would find it odd that people would voluntarily give up rights taken for granted all over the world to be ruled by an appointed committee headed by a deeply corrupt scoundrel with far worse democratic credentials than Thaksin, and you condemn them for "slavish devotion to a clan bent on total political dictatorship".

Interesting logic on your part.

"a deeply corrupt scoundrel with far worse democratic credentials than Thaksin"

Only Juthaporn fits this bill - liar, cheat, murdereer AND thief!!!!!! oh and lowest insult of lowest insult ............red shirt!

Did they ballot the members to come to this decision?

.

No, of course not. That would be democracy, which is what they're opposed to.

One good thing about the present crisis is that it has exposed how deeply the anti-democracy cancer has spread through Thai society. When the time comes for real reform the elected government of the Thai people will know exactly who raised their hand against democracy and can deal with them accordingly.

ooooh those pesky doctors - saving lives undemocratically day after day - how dare they - Next youll tell us only Shinawatras can save lives and expect us to believe you!!!!!!!! Red shirt logic in action!!!!!!!!

This is a massive organisation, and to claim you speak on behalf of the whole is ridiculous. So every doctor in this organisation support?

Piffle, and as a statement no better than how the reds intimidate people to vote for them.

Piffle yourself - its called REPRESENTATION and is used in the west al the time - case in point TRADE UNIONS!!!!!!!!

"Public Health Society announces boycott of election"

Same old, same old. Another one...Will they never stop?

One of the PAD-Dem elements making some sort of profound statement, as if they are unrelated to the PAD-Dem's.

They keep doing it...Slicing off one of their segments, and pontificating about stuff that parrot's PAD-Dem agenda. All of it trying to fool people into thinking there is widespread support for that agenda. When in fact it is just different group-same faces.

Everyone knows the medical establishment and all its' sub-units including this one (If it is one), are Thaksin haters, for taking their 'golden goose' away with his 30-baht hospital program.

Anyone heard of this 'society" before?...They also like to use "Networks"...Many on-the-spot faux creations just to make pro-PAD-Dem agenda pronouncements without being perceived as PAD-Dem's.

How typical. Someone or some organization does something that the Shinawatras and their acolytes like you don't like and so they're labelled as 'Thaksin haters' or they're in some way wired into the underground Democrat or ammart network! Not surprising really. Top health professionals much preferred it when only a handful of very polite, generally very healthy rich people came into hospitals and disturbed them from their mobile phone conversations. Now millions of the great unwashed are thronging the hospitals with real illnesses and 'health professionals' have to work for their living. Oh for those old halyon days!

Hope you never find your self ill and have to wait for them to be dragged away from their phones!!! are there ANY depths red shirt apologists will not sink to? Oh sorry - theyll never be undemocratic will they?

I agree with Binjalin.

I think that Thaksin is speaking metaphorically: he is saying that democracy is a vehicle to take us to a destination called national progress. But democracy of itself will not get us to the destination if the 'passengers' (MPs) do not want that progress. i.e. democracy is a necessary but not a sufficient condition of progress. I guess he's also hinting that he'll only be interested in politics if it lets him achieve what he wants for the country.

Of course, many people on ThaiVisa think that his main aim in getting into politics was to enrich himself. I don't agree, though I doubt that he wanted to make himself poorer. Probably one reason for his fall is that he antagonised too many people in his pellmell rush to get to his destination.

Two other things are clear when looking at this ThaiVisa thread which began in late 2003 (and continued to 2010):

1) 'The Nation' newspaper was even more biased against Thaksin then than it is now. Look at how it has twisted the quotation to make it seem that Thaksin was against democracy. Awful journalism. Clearly 'The Nation' and the elite were out to get him then and they did get him 3 years later.

2) People who posted on TV back in 2003 and 2008 were just as hostile to Thaksin as they are now.

on the BBC news report it showed a few diehards sitting on the road staring into space ,they dont need to work so they can afford to sit staring into space .

all day they sit there staring into space like zombies .

you would think they would read a book or fiddle with a smartphone but no nothing to occupy their brains.

the actual protesters seem to be very few now .

nobody appears to occupy the tents so are they fake tents where nobody lives within? all very strange .

not enough protesters to bring down a democratically elected gumment

"The society is comprised of various clubs and agencies in the Public Health Ministry, four medical schools and seven medical organisations".

Interestingly a government department is involved here however I think their numbers are probably quite small but the point about this is that these are most likely well educated people and capable of understanding the needs of the country if not from the national perspective then certainly from a health perspective.

22 years of watching rich corrupt Thais hold the country back.

I saw first hand the improvements under Thaksin.... and so did most of thailand. BKK is not Thailand and the 100-200 on the march today prove they are a spent force.

Only the media not portraying this again.

Tell me this is a 6 million man march. Didn't even hold up traffic in some parts or it.

<snip pic>

"I saw first hand the improvements under Thaksin"

Why hasn't he been able to continue those improvements with his proxy parties? Maybe the global economy has something to do with it? Booming while he was in power, and busted since. He's not so good when the global economy sucks, is he?

Alternatively it could be argued that total GDP doubled so, maintaining percentage growth is a bit harder.

At the end.of it, the thai economy did well under thaksin.

The Australian economy did well while Thaksin was in power too. Well done that man!

who cares? just the bleating's of a section of the elite ammart as it groans against the paradigm shift towards a more equal society

Well pardon me if I disagree, i'm sure Suthep would not be so flipptant and dissimissive!

Suthep: "I don't respect 'farangs'. We do not have to surrender to them"

not flippant or dismissive? there are 100s of quotes from Suthep during the crisis where he is far more than flippant/dismissive

my more serious point is more about the paradigm shift that is happening now where ordinary Thais are not willing to be led be a feudalistic few elites and I see Suthep as raging AGAINST those changes that are, very slowly, introducing a more flat and equal society

However, Suthep is a wolf in sheeps clothing, getting some to believe he is FOR change yet sneaking in an anti-democracy 'People's Council' of the elite to perpetuate the ammart system - he can't do it democratically and so he blocks the RIGHT to VOTE and that, dear poster, is the slippery slope to dictatorship
