As far as I know you do it where you are registered as living. But why don't you call them and see what can be done.

I will call them on Monday then, i am registered in the tabianbaan of my wife(yellow) so I was wondering if my wife can do these procedures on my behalf .

I am sure you will have to do it yourself.

Where did you apply at?

I applied one year ago at chengwattana since the immigration office in pathumthani processes pr not.

Hi are you sure it is an approval letter? As you applied 1 year ago, and there are applications still awaiting approval from 2009 onwards

If it is the ultimate approval letter it states (or it did when I got it) that you must take the next steps in the process within 7 (from my memory) days. My agent asked if this was flexible and the answer was no.

Next steps means getting the actual PR Blue book issued and getting registered with the local police, and getting tabien baan book adjusted.

Good luck.

If it is a truly been approved then you will probably have to do the process of getting your residency certificate in Bangkok. Not surprising at all that you had to apply at CW it is my understanding that is truly the only place you can apply although the rules say any immigration office.

You should have your wife double check what the letter is about. It may be that they want more info or you go in for an interview.

Please do come back and let us know if you truly have gotten your PR approved that quick because there are a lot of people that have been waiting much longer.

Very unlikely as the caretaker interior minister is not likely to sign anything. It would be great if it was true though. Please let us know.

I applied in 2007 and still waiting. :)

Yes, I truly got the letter of approval of the pr-both, my wife(she is Thai) and I speak, write and read Thai- and it is not only me, another guy that applied on 2011 also got it, I do not think that the people responsible of the process care much about the order of the applications. just to make things clear, I did not payed any extra money, neither used any lawyer, I applied based on humanitarian reasons since my family is Thai, did everything by myself as I did every time that I got a visa extension, maybe they took into consideration that I am graduated from Ramkhamhaeng Uni. that I have a tabian baan, that I have been in the country since I got married and I also have a child , my salary is a modest one 30,000 bath plus some commissions an bonuses, my wife is a 100% Thai with no chinese ancestry and from a middle class family, I did not donated any money to any thai temple or other charity organization and when asked about my religion I said that I didn't have one cuz I am atheist, I am just 28 years old and have been living here for 8 years now, I am not gonna answer any more post questioning the veracity of any of these cuz honestly I just do not care, I truely hope that all the people in this forum that is waiting for their pr get it as soon as possible just be patient and I am sure you also will get it .

Very interesting. Having slightly more than 30,000 means you applied based on your family instead of based on employment?

Yes, that's correct.

He didn't shout , just stating fact that he got it. He had nothing to proof to anyone just want a simple answer for his simple question.

Let the envy run!

Be it for overstayers, or guys that are easy with women, be that for those that live in Thailand any different than know-it-all.

And now for fresh Permanent Residency holders!

Congratulations.

You are the first one I heard of getting PR on this base, confirming it is a real possible to get it based on family. That is good news for many who otherwise wouldn't qualify based on employment.

Even though the caretaker minister is authorized to sign, they usually don't want to sign anything, unless they have to. However, it's possible that some approvals were signed before the dissolution of parliament and, even at the best of times, iight take time for the approvals to filter back through the ministry to Immigration. There was quite a flow of approvals still coming through in 2011 when Chaovarat was caretaker minister, probably all signed by him while still substantive minister. In this case, it seems nothing short of a miracle that any approvals have come through, given that the the Interior Ministry and Immigration have been shut down by protestors.

Anyway I believe that you have to report to Immigration at CW within 7 days of Ywritten order to get your residence book. You need to get your alien book at the police station in the district where the address you used in your application is within 30 days or your PR will be cancelled under the Immigration Act - no ifs or buts - and you will have to re-apply from scratch. Then you need to go to the district office and get on a blue tabien baan. You can move to a new district after you done all of this but I don't think there is any mechanism for registering at a new address in the first instance. When you move, you have to sign off at your police station and district office. The police station will send the paper work to your new police precint and it will take about 3 weeks. I think you take the paper work from your old district office to the new one yourself. Once you are registered in a province outside Bkk and have informed Immigration, you will be able to get endorsements and re-entry permits at the immigration office in your new province.

Is during this 7 day period when a person would pay the rest of the fee?

OP, Congrats!

I'm curious. Why didn't you just apply for citizenship instead of PR?

Contacted the permanent residence section for updates, there has been no movement on the interior minister signing applications and none is expected i the coming month(s). My application is still with the minister waiting to be signed. Can anyone collaborate that?

Hi has been over a week now. How did your process go for getting your book and paying for the residence permit?

As CW is closed where did you have to go to do it?

Sorry for the late reply but this week I've been very busy, I went to CW but it was closed, went to my local police station and anpuer but they don't have a clue so I just gave up, I will apply again next year maybe bcuz i can't stay in bkk more than 3 days anyways I am not in a hurry, no I have a different job from when an applied so and my income has increased considerably so I think that if this time they approved me next time would be even easier, but honestly speaking the only reason why I want the pr is cuz with it you dont need to go to inmigration every 90 days and no need of visa extension every years cuz in almost all the other aspects is the same that the yearly non-O extension wink.png

100k to avoid a max of 6 trips a year to immigration? (4 of those trips could be done by mail or by someone else in person. 1 more could be done by your wife alone, or possibly by someone you authorize...)

So why not apply for citizenship instead?

After the long and exhaustive process you gave up! After getting approval!

You could have tried at Major Hollywood or Imperial Ladprao., as that is where immigration are operating from whilst CW is shut down?

Suggest for many on here waiting for many many years it would be hard to understand

Good luck next time

You seem to be taking the PR Process very casually; this site is full of reports from people who have waited years for approval.

Clearly you imagine that the processing of your next application will be approved as easily and quickly as the first one - however that's definitely not something I would bet on!
