I know groceries here don't have the selection and value of groceries in other countries so I would like to know how you cope in Thailand markets.

I know chicken is cheap, for starters.

There is enough in a Thai supermarket to satisfy most though i did when living there shop at 3 different branded supermarkets to cover my normal shopping basket.

About the only thing i missed were dry biscuits, couldn't find a substitute to what i had been use to back in Oz.

I coped, i changed, and all for the better when it came to food.

I would say food is definitely more affordable here and local products are abundant all year.

Only problem is chemical use

Just because you can't buy paprika micro-chips doesn't mean that it's any harder to buy a few cuts of meat, some veegies, loaves of bread and a block of butter or a wedge of cheese.

Go to supermarket or other large aircon shops maybe three or four times in a year.

90% from the Khlong Toey fresh market, rest from the local traders in the street market around the corner.

Budget's currently ~180 per day for a household of 7-9.

Not counting khanom bought by the Thais, they seem to spend most of their income on that plus a bit for their mobile top-ups and lottery tickets.
