BANGKOK: -- A group of Silom businessmen and residents showed up briefly in front of the Indian Embassy this morning (Sunday) to give moral support to president of Indian-Thai Business men Association Satis Sehgal who is facing deportation from the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO).

BANGKOK: -- Fresh election for the 28 constituencies where election could not take place on February 2 will not be staged in March as it will too close to the Senate election scheduled on March 30, Election Commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn said today (Sunday).

Satish denied taking refuge in Indian embassy

BANGKOK: -- India-Thai Business Forum chairman Satish Sehgal denied Sunday that he is taking a refuge inside the Indian embassy.

It was reported that he has taken a refuge in the embassy for fear of deportation. The Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order has ordered his deportation after he joined anti-government rallies.

Satish said he has been staying at home and he would not flee because he was confident that he had done nothing wrong.

Early last Saturday morning, a female tourist spent 45 minutes trying to contact the police. Repeated calls to the Tourist Police hotline 1155 went unanswered until a man picked up and told her he could not speak English and advised her to call the Thalang Police, who put her on hold.
