Towing a Trailer -> License restrictions?

Hiya...

I've seen a few topics on here about having a trailer... All say that you need to register the trailer.

Now i've done that, and have it all legit. I've also been told that my normal 5 year license does not cover pulling a trailer.

I'm wondering if that's a miscommunication and someone thinks i want an HGV (equiv) license for a 10 wheeler, where i've only got a simple hookup to the car/pickup trailer.

So question is: what license do i require to tow a trailer with a pickup?

the 10 wheeler license you can only get with citizenship as far as i know, whether you need that for towing a trailer is another question
