Hi all,

My Non Imm Re-Entry Permit ( it's for purpose retirement) states 'Valid Until' with the date stamped.

Does the Re-Entry permit include the day of the date stamped?

i.e. If the Re-Entry permitted date stamped was 28th Feb - Re-Entry would be permitted on the 28th Feb?

Other question - will Immigration Office extend for another 12 months if I visit on the day of the actual date stamped - i.e. the very last day??

Both questions are yes, so you could do that.

Of course it would not be wise to do wait till the very last day. Planes, trains and automobiles often get delays, needed paperwork might be missing, you might get sick etc. you do run Immigration at the border will question you and might need some convincing.

You can apply for an extension up to 30 day early, even 45 days early at some immigration offices.

"You can apply for an extension up to 30 day early, even 45 days early at some immigration offices."

... without losing any days. If your current annual extension (not a non-Imm visa, but an annual extension) expires 15th March, for example, even if you apply to renew it 30 to 45 days early, the new extension will still give you a full year more, up until 15th of March of the following year.

In reading the O/P I wonder if he's confusing a re-entry permit with an annual extension of stay??

A re-entry permit allows you to leave and return to the country without killing your extension of stay. The extension of stay is your permission to remain in Thailand based on your annual application. Each successful annual application for a new extension gives you a full year more without trying to time it at the last minute.

If you're getting annual extensions of stay based on retirement, the non-Imm visa is dead and buried.

Hi,

Confusion about right.

A year ago we applied for a Non Immi O visa - 'Purpose Retirement' - put 800k in the bank etc and duly received a Stamp in the PPs.

Immi were pretty helpful by the way - bit of a rugby scrum - but to be expected.

The stamp in our PPs stated 'Application to stay is permitted up to' - then with an end of Feb 2014 date appended ( =12month period ) with the word 'Retirement' and with a caveat to report every 90 days.

There was also a note to remind to apply for a 'RE-Entry PERMIT before leaving the Kingdom' - which we in fact made sure to do.

So both my wife and I now also have a current big square stamp in our PPs stating NON-IMM RE-ENTRY PERMIT - Number of Entries 1.

It is that - hopefully - we will use to get back in. ;o)

We will be back with a few days before end Feb 2014 date to cover for travel problems. - straight to Immi morning after arrival - with Bank Docs etc and relevant forms infilled - Tm7??

If above makes sense it would be interesting to know what we actually do have. ;o))

That will work.

Make sure that the entry officer understands you want to use the re-entry permit (put its number in the 'visa number' slot on the arrival card, I write 're-entry' next to the box too), he may think you want a 30 day exemption as there are only a few days left.

One time I entered I had one day left on the re-entry (I was picking up a new extension the next day) the entry chap actually asked if I only wanted one day.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
