Maybe this topic has been covered already, but I'm curious if there is in fact so much copy oil sold as sometimes claimed.

I have to change my engine oil again in the coming days, and went to look for oil today.

Last time I used Valvoline for common rail at I think 860 Baht for 7 liter.

Today I looked at Shell helix at the same shop for 800 Baht for 6 liter + 1 free. I would have expected Shell to be more expensive than Valvoline.

Another shop had Toyota oil for on the shelves, which I find strange as I thought that one would only be available at Toyota dealers, hence the urge for my question.

Do the major autopart shops sell copy oils and if so how to recognize .

If I buy it rather than the mechanic I use Toyota synthetic oil from a local Toyota parts store. Everything for Toyota but nothing else.

Last time I think the oil was about 1600-1800 baht for 4 litres but don' quote me.
