February 12, 201412 yr As the sports freak I am, I am looking for a pub or a place in Phuket where I can watch the olympics. Of course I can watch it at home, but I like to have the opportunity to chill in a bar/pub with a beer when while watching sporting events. If someone knows about any place in Phuket Town, Kathu or Patong it would be great. Answers regarding other locations on the island is of course also welcome.
February 12, 201412 yr I thought this thread was about Phuket bidding to hold the olympic games. To the OP. Anywhere with a TV will televise it

But seriously, I am up for watching puck action...USA v Russia could be a real cracker! I can't believe more bar owners aren't gearing up for this...

And the crowd favourite the downhill bobsled from the temple at Patong hill
February 16, 201412 yr Well, the US-Russia game was awesome and I had to watch it in full "retard mode" with a bad stream...still waiting for someone, anyone to post an answer to the original query....
February 18, 201412 yr Men – Qualification RUS vs. NOR 7:30pm tonight. Anyone gonna show it? Or any Olympic hockey? I wish a few bar owners would get the puck of their collective asses and start paying attention to this: it's perfect for Phuket with our mixed expat community. The games are also coming on at a perfect time, unlike so many other high profile sporting events.
February 18, 201412 yr I haven't paid attention if there is some locations to watch the ice hockey. Would be fun to watch the finals, provided that my team is participating. How does women's ice hockey look like?
February 18, 201412 yr Wow. Great Britain, Australia and Poland are all above Finland on the medal standings. The hell has frozen.

February 19, 201412 yr FIN-RUS 3-1 ! The next opponent is Sweden, a game which should be good to watch. Source: https://twitter.com/b_judah/status/436132452671565826 Edited February 19, 201412 yr by Guest
February 19, 201412 yr Big congrats to Finn team on such an awesome result; sorry to my Russian friends: I know how you feel. I don't understand why Phuket bar owners aren't organizing something around this. Oilinki, contact me if u want to watch some of these games together...this tournament is getting interesting indeed.
February 19, 201412 yr Fortunately it's just a game. I remember the times when the Russian Red Machine was almost unbeatable. Tretiak was a wall in front of the goal. Ice hockey is one of the few sports I like to watch so it would be a nice to watch the games together. Preferably if Leijonat is playing. I might become a loud spectator during the game, but it will be over in 42 seconds after the game Some times back I saw some wintersport games at the bars in Kamala (they have still plenty of scandinavians). Maybe someone local there could advise where to go?

February 21, 201412 yr For those who don't know, the man on the left is the king of Sweden who says "I know". Oh boy this is going to backfire if Finnish team will not win today

February 21, 201412 yr Congratulations to Tre Kronor for the victory. Fair game and fair win. Quite a few places were showing the game in Kamala. However in the first place I stopped, they were streaming BBC feed to the TV. The image quality was horrible and the streaming did not really work. The Beer garden, next to the main road in Kamala had Astro satellite feed with perfect image quality as you can see below.
February 21, 201412 yr Trying to hang on for Canada v US. Congrats to Sweden for doing so well even though they had so many injuries going in. The Finns were a class act throughout this tournament; too bad one team had to lose. Edited February 21, 201412 yr by phuketsub

February 22, 201412 yr So it will be Finland - USA for the bronze today and Sweden - Canada for the finals tomorrow. I'm prepared to give our Canadian friends the state of Minnesota if they'll take him back.
February 22, 201412 yr The stakes are high! Billboard in Chicago. I'm sure they're regretting that 'offer' now.
February 23, 201412 yr Finland get the bronze medal. Itself was not such importance, but to see how Selänne was able to enjoy the end of his 26 years olympic career, was something special. A gentleman and a great player. I'm actually supporting Sweden on the finals, but it seems that Canada is going for the gold. I still enjoy the creativity of these jokes flying around the internet
