Should be fun The point about the decision is that it was his speeches they were using as evidence but the speeches were focusing on his support for, and loyalty to, His Majesty The King - for the Immigration Committee to use such a speech as grounds for deportation would have been an incredible insult to our monarchy - and totally wrong! Lets not get all teary eyed and over dramatically nationalistic about it. For now hes off the hook and hes going to be keeping his mouth shut a lot more in the future i expect. Maybe lesson learnt, thats a good thing and win win for Thailand overall. Let's not loose site of the fact this is another defeat for a crumbling regime. This week Chalerm is told off publicly for insulting a coalition partner. Tarit promises to name those responsible for the "crime" of financing the anti-regime protesters. Then, he backtracks and says he can't. Meanwhile Chalerm appears to have leaked the list, which includes a deceased person who died a long time before the protests began.(An honest mistake - no one in PTP ever checks anything). Now this. A very sensible decision by the immigration committee. This gentleman is no threat to security and the whole fiasco was trumped up out of political spite. One susepcts the immigration committee have done the legally correct thing....ie I understsand the gentleman is a PR, therefore under a legally correct process, they would have to withdraw his PR status before deporting him. It seems they looked at this and Chalerm & Co have not supplied compelling enough evidence to get his PR withdrawn, therefore no grounds for deportation it seems to me that they tried to bypass this requirement and just wanted him deported therefore not following the rule of law anyway, yes the PTP "democratic" process at work again... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Section 6 : The immigration Commission will consist of the Under Secretary of the Minister of Interior as Chairman and the following members : - Under Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Director General, Police Department - Director General, Labor Department - Director General, Public Prosecution Department - Secretary General, Board of Investment Committee - Secretary General, National Security Council - Director, Tourist Organization of Thailand - Commander of Immigration Division as member and secretary This is amazing, since these are all directly under Chalerm or the Thaksinite security apparatus with the exception of the BOI and the TAT. Even the interior minister who is also Pheua Thai party leader felt the need to comment personally on the case, saying that there was a lack of evidence. They must be all quite p*ssed off with Chalerm over this frivolous and vindictive case that just makes CMPO and the government look like a right load of charlies. Chalerm & Tarit - the Thai version of the Chuckle Brothers I would have said they were more like a Thai version of the puppets Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men who made a lot of noise but actually said nothing coherent. And then there was also Little Weed, a cute, dippy little thing on strings who was also worked by an unseen hand. She hid herself away most of the time, hardly ever spoke and even when she did nobody could understand what she was saying. Also, it would appear that immigration does not agree with your view. Not that I would consider a foreigner ranting on stage to be interfering. Typical mess of a system that reduces the Thai legal system to a laughing stock. At the end of it, standing next to Suthep moaning about corruption, is well, immensly hypocritical.
