Have haerd of the "Day & Night"- Hotel and it's very reasonable pricing. Has also a "built-in" Disco, but was told that this Disco caters mostely to "Katoeys" and gentlemen that favour the "other side"anyway.

Could anyone confirm (or not confirm?) Thanks.

This is the last place that I would stay.

The name Day & Night has been linked to a number of farang deaths in the past.....I will say no more!

Stay away from this place if you value your LIFE - spose if you have a death wish it might be up your alley. :D

Dave - Sorry I didnt say goodbye to you and Kurgen, but you looked like you were busy at the time, so I decided I'd let you two keep up the festivities even though I made an exit. :D

@davethailand

"Jenny Star Bar" sounds very familiar. Must have walked past it a zillion times. Not sure, but isn't that the "Kathoey" Bar on Walking Street near that big old tree?

Important: I would NOT be looking for a "Katoey" environment!

@davethailand

I am looking for: Reasonable accomodations (with Air-Cond.) If possible "in the middle of things".

Betwenn Carsberg Nr 1 to Nr 10 I will be looking for girls.

Betwenn Carsberg Nr 11 to Nr 20 I will basically be looking for/at everything! The past has shown, that within this 11 to 20 range my willingness to experiment was somewhat higher than within the 1 to 10 range. I wonder why that is? HarHar! HeHe!

Carsberg = Carlsberg?

If so you will have trouble finding it, as it is no longer brewed in Thailand.

The Day/Night Hotel has a long history of death and destruction. :o It's located in a rather tough neighborhood that I would not be comfortable staying in after dark. I would avoid it at all costs to be honest.

There are dozens of hotels "in the middle of it" all the way from Soi 2 in the north to Walking Street in the south and bordered by Beach Road and Second Road. All but a few of these on the top end price-wise are guest friendly. While I have no experience taking home "persons of the third kind" I doubt the desk clerk will bat an eye in those later days when you are feeling a bit more adventuresome. If you arrive early in the day you can do a bit of walking and decide while you are on the ground what is the best choice for you. Walk-ins are very common during the slow period and you will also likely find the best deals this time of year.

But do yourself a favor and AVOID the Day/Night Hotel!

Lady boys in a bum dance is right. :D

I made the mistake of staying at the Day Night Hotel many years ago. I checked out the suite rooms during the day and liked one on the top floor. It was a huge room, king size bed, good fittings, nice view and the price was right.

The following year I emailed the hotel and booked the room that I had inspected the trip before.

I arrived from Bangkok Airport late at night, checked in at the reception and was asked to pay one weeks rent in advance. I told the reception that I hadn't had a chance to exchange my Aussie $$$ and that I would pay in the morning.

My g/f and I went to the room, unpacked our bags and tried to get the airconditioning working. The airconditioner grunted and groaned and put out a small stream of cool air, but no where near enough to cool the room.

The taps on the top floor didn't work. I learned that there was not enough water pressure to get the water to the #@*&%$# top floor.

A call to reception met with.."Oh solly sir, no have maintance man, come tomollow."

Great !!!

My eyes were hanging out of my head from the long flight and taxi trip down from Bangkok, the bed was ok, so out with the lights and get between the sheets.

Then the #$$%$#&** disco next door starts up. I swear that the whole hotel started shaking. It was crap music too. Needless to say, we couldn't sleep until the disco closed.

The next morning, I went to the restaurant, had breakfast, walked up to another hotel, booked in and returned to the Day Night to pack my bags and check out.

I had to get in a line of other unhappy customers waiting to check out too. One customer had made the mistake of paying for his first week in advance and was fighting with the reception staff trying to get his money refunded. The police were already in attendance.

I left the key on the counter and walked out, never to return.

That hotel is a dive and is long overdue for demolision. :o

BUT, luckily Pattaya's changning, day after day.

Are we talking about Day-and-Night I or II? Or as if they are called now: Day-and-Night Hotel and Day-and-Night Appartments.

About one year ago Day-and-Night (II) Appartments underwent major surgery; the rooms were refurbished, they made some shops, a nice restaurant and the disco disappeared. From what I've heard, it must be reasonable.

Since the area around/between Day-and-Night I and II was upgraded it has become an additional gay area besides Pattayaland and Sunnee Plaza.

No, I don't own the place and I don't have shares, so I won't sponsor the site with an add!! (sorry)

Exactly. Let's get the facts straight here. It is the DayNight 2 hotel (on soi DayNight 2) that seems to have problems keeping it's guests alive. I live across the street for the hotel (and used to be a frequent guest there).

The Day-Night Hotel (on soi DayNight) has a boyz nightclub, and there are numerous boyz establishments in the area (between soi DayNight and soi DayNight 2). In fact, some refer to the area as "soi GAY-Night". :D

If you want reasonable accomodations in the middle of things, try the Penthouse Hotel or the Flipper Lodge Hotel on soi 8. The Diamond Beach Hotel may also suit your needs, and is definitely in the middle of things, located on soi Diamond. The Diamond not only has...what.... 8/9/10 ? A-go-go bars outside the entrance, plus some beer bars and restaurants, and is fairly close to the Blues Factory as well :o

I would recommend renting a room for only 3 days, at which ever place you choose. Then you can look around for something better/cheaper/nicer/closer/quieter/what ever. If you like where you are at, then you can extend your stay.

As you are not in to Katoey's, then you won't be going in to the Jenny Star bar (by the escalators going up to the Peppermint Disco, previously known as the Marine Disco), nor will you go to the Linda Bar (which is the one by that big tree a little further down the street). Stay away from the Hollywood Disco as well (so I've heard).

Plenty of places to kill your liver, what ever poison you choose. And plenty of companions willing to help you meet your goals, what ever they may be !
