China's New "Little Car" aka "The Highway Suppository"
ATT00001.jpg
Here's a one seater car that will get you back around on the cheap. This $600 Volkswagen's car gets 258 mpg, 109.687 km/l or 0.9 litre per 100 km!!!
Its spartan interior does not sacrifice safety; the impact and roll-over protection is comparable to a GT racing car. The aero design proved essential to getting the desired result.
The body is 3.47 metres long and just 1.25 metres wide, and a little over a metre high. The prototype was made completely of carbon fibre and is not painted to save weight.
The power plant is a one cylinder diesel, positioned ahead of the rear axle and combined with an automatic shift controlled by a knob in the interior. The Most Economic Car in the World will be on sale next year.
  • Better than Electric Car – 258 miles/gallon.
  • A single-seat car.
  • lt be selling for 4000 Yuan, equivalent to US $600.
  • Gas tank capacity = 1.7 gallons.
  • Speed = 62 – 74.6 Miles/hour.
  • Fuel efficiency = 258 miles/gallon.
  • Travel distance with a full tank = 404 miles or 646 km!!!

I have been waiting for years for Japanese K-cars to come to Thailand. Blocked by the Thai politician-Thai parts supplier-Toyota/Isuzu pick-up cartel.

Ahhhhhh

Back to the fifties

Looks like the Messerschmitt mini car.

Although that one had two seats.

It might be a good idea, however, I would not feel very safe sitting in such a small car between the normal traffic.

Just imagine, driving this mini-single seater from Bangkok to Nong Khai.........

Don't think one could arrive safely and unscathed.

I can't figure out why VW put their name on it??? Maybe it's a case of "Were you born stupid, or did you learn it?". Guess we will know next year when we see the reports of 18 wheelers flattening them!

It was a design exercise from 2008/2009 BSJ, which hasn't and probably won't ever be produced in that format, not to mention the impossibility of selling it for $600 including a margin for the manufacturer and retailer.
