BANGKOK, March 4 - Thailand's major convenience store network, 7-Eleven, asserted today that its sales growth has continued to expand, unimpeded despite the country's ongoing political turmoil.

Kriengchai Boonpoapichart, CP All finance and investor relations and vice president looking after 7-Eleven, said the continuing political conflict has reduced the purchasing power of tourists and Thai consumers. However, the situation has not impacted daily sales volume of 7-Eleven, thanks to its sales of daily life goods and ready meals.

Mr Kriengchai said sales volume in the past two months continued to grow, while the company is maintaining its investment plan with a budget of Bt8-9 billion, including opening new branches and renovating the existing ones. The convenience7-Eleven has also set a sales growth target at 10-15 per cent.

Korsak Chairasmisak, CP All CEO, meanwhile, said the company will offer secured debt and senior debt instruments for durations of 3, 5, 7, and 10 years at a limit of no more than Bt40 billion for refinancing and at the minimum purchase of Bt100,000. Interest varies from 4.1-5.35 per cent and are to be paid every 6 months. (MCOT online news)

Doesn't matter what the political situation is, people still need food, booze and condoms!

Food probably, but booze in Bangkok's 7-11s if not easy to get at the prohibited hours. And as for number three, well, with juvenile pregnancy rates as they are in Thailand ... ...

They must be doing something right because there are competing stores, often in nearby locations, that seem not to be doing anywhere like as well as 7-Eleven. As for alcohol during the restricted hours, no a chance in those 7-Elevens that sell booze and not all do.

And the CP juggernaut just keeps on rolling.

An amazing story. They have turned the 7-11 Franchise into a category killer like no place on earth. Thailand has the 3rd most stores after Japan & US of anywhere worldwide. CP has perfected the minimart concept, at least for Thailand.

Well, they sell it as a way to make an unbeatable living, thus attracting franchisee while maintaining the right to open next door

Elsewhere in the world no franchisee would ever sign the deal. Ever wondered the margin on a salabpao. Bearing in mind cp make a huge percentage of the food present in a 7-11.

It is all to CPs advantage . love them or loathe them they just keep devouring thailand.
