DogNo1
Tywais: you mentioned in a post that you had had a hip replaced. How did that work out and how expensive was it? I've been having a lot of pain in my left hip recently. I can't seem to walk much of any distance without it getting very painful. I will be seeing the orthopedist at Bumrungrad this week for an examination but I have an inkling that a hip replacement might be in my future and would like to learn from your experience if you don't mind talking about it.? Tywais
That wasn't me but remember someone both in the CM forum and the Health forum discussing it. Will move this to the Health forum but leave a link in the CM forum for the member(s) that has had the procedure to see. Here is a topic on it in the Health forum. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/635356-hip-replacement/ Two topics in the CM forum and appears to be northernjohn who has had it done. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/663501-hip-replacement/ http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/668825-hip-surgery-recovery/
Sheryl
Quite a few TV members have had hip replacements and the results are usually excellent. But if you have not yet been evaluated by a specialist and told you need one, you may be getting ahead of yourself.

But if you have not yet been evaluated by a specialist and told you need one, you may be getting ahead of yourself. Excellent advice, some hip pain can be caused by other things, not wearing good shoes, flat feet, knee problems and hip pain can often be compensatory for these. As far as Chiang Mai i know of two people who had hip replacements (if that's what is required. Both are doing very well and both used Dr Chanakarn. I think it was between 150-180,000 baht. http://www.my-arthroscopy.com/Conf/AASMC2013/facultyCVs/CV-Eng%20Dr%20%20Chanakarn%20Smith&Nephew.pdf
DogNo1
Thanks very much for the information. Needing a hip replacement is just speculation on my part at this point. I'm going to have the evaluation done by the orthopedist and see what he says. I'll be happy if I don't need the hip replacement but I'm eager to find out what's causing the hip pain.
