Bomb attack at NACC

Bh5MJwSCAAMuMo3-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- A bomb was thrown into the headquarter of the National Anti Corruption Commission in Nonthaburi province on Tuesday night and exploded.

Nobody was injured when the bomb exploded at about 9.00 p.m. but left a 20-centimetre wide hole on the grass lawn in front of the office building.

Soldiers guarding the NACC rushed to the scene where the bomb landed, and alerted relevant security agencies.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal police also arrived to inspect the scene.

They found a safety pin which later was said to be of the MK 2 hand grenade.

The police were looking into CCTV cameras near the vicinity for clues in the bomb attack.

Who doesn't like the NACC again? Who said they will get an army of 600 000 people? Who said they will eliminate the opposition? Who said they will set up a shadow NACC? Who will be responsible for finding yingluck responsible for negligence?

Yes so going by PTP logic this must be the PDRC. blink.png

Who as more to gain by upsetting the NACC and who has more to loose?

It would not be wise for the government supporters to upset them. Just my opinion. Who really knows with some many idiots running around from both sides.

Amazing that the police can quickly find the shooters of the red shirt leader in Issan, but have yet to find one person who has thrown bombs at the protesters. No wonder they are against the government, and the police.

And of course as soon as the Lanna movement is blown wide open, Yingluck comes out and begs the army not to show double standards and do anything against the reds.

Strange how she speaks of double standards. When was the last time she mentioned the secession in the south? never.... because the south does not exist in her book, there is only 'the north'.... Lanna supremo.

Since there is no information about the incident, any claim about who is at fault is suspect.

Those who post such claims are simply doing that based on their preconceptions, and not responding logically.

Or to put it more clearly, they are acting like a fool and showing their ignorance.

Just proving that there are fools on both sides.

The only interest here is the continued use of military issued ordinance , the security of weapons should be of concern to the police, the commanders of the military should be tightening the controls and issue of weapons , there is no place in Thai culture to blowing people up, these kind of tactics could prove detrimental to the survival of some political partiesbah.gif .

The red shirts in their immense wisdom and intellect have more to gain. They only know of progress through intimidation and violence.

That question was also asked of me when the preposterous thought of PDRC protestors killing their own supporters in Trat and Bangkok was presented to me. All along I said it was aimed at shutting down protests to intimidate them into defeat. Well guess what? 2 weeks later they reduce the protest sites due to reasons including protestor safety. The red shirts through intimidation and violence got the job done that the CPMO could not.

It would not be wise for the government supporters to do a lot of things, but that has never stopped them before. "Wisdom" and "doing" do not go hand in hand at "Beat the war drum" meetings.

Grenade thrown into NACC compound

BANGKOK, 5 March 2014 (NNT) – The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has become the latest victim of political violence after a grenade was thrown into its compound.

The NACC was hit by a grenade last night. According to reports, the explosion took place near an ATM booth in the compound of the NACC Headquarters in Nonthaburi Province.

No injuries have been reported. The blast however left a 20-centimeter wide crater on the ground, right in front of the NACC building.

The police are now investigating the scene and reviewing CCTV cameras.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has also been called in to help look into the matter.

The NACC has recently pressed charges against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra for her negligence in the government’s rice subsidy program that has run out of funds, prompting unpaid farmers to rally against her government.

You are quite right, in almost every case, with the exception of the grenade thrower who was caught on CCTV, there has been very little (to none) evidence found as to the identity of those attacking the protesters. The dearth of evidence leads many people to believe that the RTP are unable, or more likely unwilling, to pursue the cases.

Be that as it may, the "Nobody saw me, you can't prove it!" defence is pretty thin in the face of continued attacks, and the claims of self-harm for sympathy, 3rd parties or annoyed residents are simply infantile. Anybody who dares to criticise or offend the Shinawatras and their cronies is attacked. You don't have to be biased to conclude who benefits from such intimidation, and which side the perpetrators support.

You got it! Blow a whistle at a Shin and your mother's house gets hosed with machine gun fire.

Thaksin and his red shirts know they will lose in court. So they will do what is needed to show who is in charge with scare tactics. Its the only option left for them.

Agreed.

The bomb is most likely to be funded by Thaksin himself.

To be perfectly honest was there ever a time that prayuth sent his lawyers onto to any secessionists in the south so readily, or captured any for that matter?

Yingluck does have a point, he did react in a knee jerk way because it happened to be a few outspoken members of the Chiang Mai 51 group. Thus to him and many on this board, their views, disavowed before he acted, represent the views of every member of the UDD.

No. it's Prayuth showing he's a "hard man" again. At least this time, nobody was killed.

The only interest here is the continued use of military issued ordinance

Just to clarify, the MK 2 grenade, used in this report and in another TV report where one did successfully explode, has not been military issue for many years now and was replaced in the '50s with the M26 (smooth surface).

How many Thai citizens in the South are openly declaring themselves to be secessionists? Those that do are conducting a guerilla campaign and are regularly shot while engaged in that, or captured and charged with other, easier to prove, serious charges.

You're entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong your opinion is. I don't think you would find it amusing if someone was going to place a mock coffin in front of your home or place of work, would you? They're clearly intimidating and terrorizing NACC.

Reds besiege NACC HQ

BANGKOK: -- HUNDREDS OF redshirts surrounded the national anti-graft agency yesterday and camped out in a bid to prevent the agency from pursuing a corruption case against caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) had scheduled today for Yingluck to acknowledge her charges related to rice-pledging scheme, but the premier yesterday began her trip to the north. It is uncertain whether she will present herself to hear charges against her at the NACC.

Three groups of redshirts joined yesterday's rally. The reds from Nonthaburi province, led by Chavalit Suriya and Suthichai Posapol, those from community radio groups - who padlocked the gates at the NACC and set up a stage and camped out - and a civil society group of 70 red shirts.

Mock coffins of NACC commissioners were placed in front of the office and petition letters were submitted by protesters demanding honest and equal treatment for all politicians.

Not too often you see mobs of the general public trying to protect & preserve corruption and being oppressed by opposing investigation into the matter. These must be among the ones getting paid; certainly not the ones who still haven't gotten paid for their rice!

Again, the perpetrators do not care to leave any doubt as to what side of the debate they come from - it's the side that is against the investigation and prosecution of corruption.

M79 launchers and projectiles have been around since the 1960's and are simple in design, very easy to knock-off. Unlike with guns, they don't even require any special knowledge of metallurgy for the barrels. If I recall correctly a factory making knock-off M79 launchers was busted just outside of Bangkok a few years ago.
