Popular Post wolf5370
The yellow armchair brigade raises their flags and fail to read the text. So your logic is that anyone that is disgusted at such events such as a street full of young and middle aged thugs kicking and punching an elderly monk to the ground and wrenching away his alms bowl, must be Yellow. Wow! What does this say for your idea of what the Reds are then? Such an dreadful indictment from you on them! Personally I would suggest anyone disgusted about this or any such beatings, are normal, well adjust, human beings - those that are not are sociopathic to say the least.

This was not about politics on the Monks side he was trying to stop wanton violence. I do believe that is an OK for a Monk to do. Perhaps you can quote the Buddhist writings where monk is never to try to stop wanton destruction. Are you also posting as rich teacher. Same lack of knowledge. It was defiantly political on the red shirt side. they were trying to prevent people with different political views than them from legally expressing them. They did it in the only way they know how violently. Well that could be debatable they might have been paid to do it. Incidentally 0 wise one how do you disrobe a monk if he is not a monk?

Popular Post dutchisaan
This so called monk "approached the Redshirts before berating them for their actions and making other impolite remarks". Where in the monk's code of conduct does it allow berating and making impolite remarks. Reports of monks molesting children, selling drugs, etc. are commonplace in Thailand. This monk was not acting like a monk & therefore was not treated like a monk. I suppose he was a monk from the Luang Pu Issara school of monk hood, i.e. leading a heavily armed group of terrorists to break the law on a daily basis. So what you are saying that because he was not behaving like a monk than it is ok to beet the sh*t out of him? And where do you get the information that he is a member of a terrorist group?Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app The PDRC have been regularly beating up people, tying them up, throwing them in rivers, .... Buddhists know well that monks get respect because of their commitment to living withing the code of conduct for a monk. Once they step outside that they are looked on with disdain and seen as bringing the monkhood into disrepute, which unfortunately happens often. As with Luang Pu this man's robes are no excuse for his behaviour."8. Give up harsh speech, speak words that are devoid of blame and criticism" "a monk should not be actively involved in partisan politics, which is within the sphere of lay people. At the most a monk may exercise his citizen’s right to vote wisely in the General Elections. If monks actively engage in partisan politics, it will endanger the Sangha (community of monks)." SUPERB post highlighting the obvious monks stick with monk-hood - what a disgrace! I think the disgrace is your reaction to this post by defending these red tugs. Dogmatix
I hope the monk has filed charges against his assailants. It shouldn't be too difficult for the police to identify some of them from the video. The red shirts are using the copy book of the former military junta in Burma by attacking Buddhist monks who oppose them peacefully. If it was only one red shirt, he would have run away from the monk. They need a dog pack with hand guns sticking out of their waste belts to feel brave enough to attack a monk. What scum. Popular Post Just1Voice
Over the past 6 years, due to circumstances, I've met quite a few of the men in saffron, and can honestly say that I have little to no respect for them. They wouldn't know Buddhism if it slapped them in the face. I'm sure there are some "real" ones out there, I just haven't met them yet. However, that aside, there is no sense whatsoever for this kind of assault by a mob. Totally uncalled for, and I hope the perpetrators are caught and punished, but I won't hold my breath for that to happen,

Mr Yim
Unfortunately this is what happens when a minority attempt to impose their will on the majority. Many of us has been saying that the end game would be a red shirt back lash since practically the start of the anti-democracy protests. Unless the Army acts and removes Sutheps mob, it is likely to get a lot worse. As for the incident itself, it is very sad to see a monk being attacked, but those of us who have lived here long enough, know that when violence starts, ethics completely go out the window. Crikey I have seen videos of half a dozen men and women kicking a young woman when she is on the floor. Luckily the monk seems ok. But really monks should not be involved in demonstrations, it is playing with fire.
