NACC refuses to extend the period for Yingluck to defend herself

"Unless Yingluck submits her arguments in person or in writing, by Monday, the NACC would assume she had no objection to the NACC's investigation report, Sansern said.

If she is indicted by the NACC, she will be suspended from office. "

...okay so an indictment grants the suspension...not a conviction... interesting...

Good! The NACC isn't one of her brother's crony organizations like the DSI. She can't extend the date as it suits her.

Yeah ...lolol unlike her chief adversary Kuhn Suthep who just ignores the charges against him and extends his dates by default then surrounds himself with nannies LOLOL...

Red sympathizers call Suthep a criminal. Yingluck is supposedly the Prime Minister of this country. So she, whether she likes it or not, is held to a higher standard. Haha clap2.gif

Suthep was Deputy PM !! Just one rung below on the ladder and has used parliamentary privileges to get out of the media stocks scandal in 2009... but I assume that was ok???

The People's Radio for Democracy group, a red-shirt faction that has been protesting in front of the NACC head office and has threatened to use concrete barriers and "bioweapons" to block the building, had still not done so.

"Bioweapons", ughh hit-the-fan.gif.pagespeed.ce.6UelFDbFNJ.

Thaksin should send his private plane to collect her soon. She has known for 2 years about the corruption in the rice scam, but she obviously thought that constant denials would get her and Pheu Thai off the hook. How it makes Thaksin look bad too! He insists that he is not corrupt. Where is he going to hide his face now?

Might be a bit early to send her packing... the last word on March 3rd was...

BANGKOK, 3 Mar 2014, (NNT) - The anti-corruption agency has yet to find any evidence of corruption on the rice pledging scheme, according to Wicha Mahakhun, Spokesperson of the National Anti Corruption Commission (NACC).

He was referring to the 50 - 60 billion baht allegedly taken from the rice scheme that the opposition claimed was being transferred to bank accounts in Hong Kong.

The NACC did not find any irregularity regarding the claim and encouraged anyone with the information to step forward and hand the evidence to the agency, said Mr. Wicha, who heads the investigation on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's involvement in the rice pledging program corruption.

Initially, the NACC has inquired those who claimed to have information on the illegal transactions; however, upon the examination of the given leads, the agency has yet to find anything concrete about the claim, said the NACC Spokesman.

Nonetheless, Mr. Wicha said the investigation would continue and the Prime Minister has yet to testify.

granted that was 24 days ago...but have yet to see even a snippet of any real new leads...anybody else...?

I'm a little confused. If the NACC doesn't have any evidence of wrongdoings, what are they accusing YL to have done? Why is there a case that her lawyers are studying? Could it be Wicha was just talking about the 60B claim?

Good question... I haven't seen any evidence that is why I asked if anybody else has..?

Guess we may know more next week eh..?

Perhaps the NACC have the evidence!!

Why would they make it public??

Once made public, the accused could manufacture evidence to counter their evidence...

The NACC isn't here for the news-agencies - they have a job to do and are getting on with it. They control what information that want in the public domain.

Perhaps this is why you haven't "seen any evidence". facepalm.gif

Well considering it only took the NACC 1hour and 49 minutes to decide they wanted to see more now not later I would think she is in trouble. Consider the fact she has had almost 2 months and figures she needs 45 more days. I would say she is busy covering up or has the worlds worst lawyers. Saw another headline where she is not sure she will run for another term. Who will protect the Kingdom from losing it's Democracy which she claims to be the reason she is not stepping down.

If one of those idiot red shirts has his way she will have to go to the jail to present her case with backers like she has who needs lawyers Guns and bombs with a lot of intimidation will do.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

And don't forget she didn't even appear in person at the NACC...

The other claim, the 'Chinese Government to Government deal is fake' has also collapsed:

The NACC claimed the G2G rice deal was fake

The NACC also ruled there was no evidence substantiating the government-to-government rice deals claimed by Yingluck's government and pressed charges against former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom, former deputy commerce minister Phum Saraphon and 13 alleged accomplices.

That deal went ahead:

BANGKOK, 28 February 2014 – China will abide by its promise to buy one million tons of rice a year under the government-to-government (G2G) basis, as stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Thailand and China.

The Chinese embassy in Thailand has confirmed that the Chinese government is willing to buy 1 million tons of rice on a G-to-G basis from the Thai government in accordance with the MOU signed by both country during the Chinese leader’s visit to Thailand late last year.

It's all become a bit of a joke, with an anti-corruption agency starting a negligence case before properly investigating the underlying corruption claims. Now it investigates the corruption cases and they fall apart. Yet it already committed itself to the negligence charge. It was timed to come to the Senate when the elected Senate part is out for election and the coup Senate part is left.

But that means the coup senate now is supposed to eject the majority elected PM, on a corruption case that has already collapsed. I wouldn't want to be them.

What makes you think the new-agencies are reporting TRUE and CORRECT information??

Wouldn't be the first time a newspaper has printed incorrect news based on inaccurate information.

For example how many times have newspapers report the rice farmers were going to be paid??? It must be well over ten times!! And yet we still have rice farmers who are owed money!!!

I rest my case!!!

NACC insists on PM Yingluck's explanation on rice charges Monday
By Digital Content

13959727018725.jpg

BANGKOK, March 28 - Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has rejected a request by caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to extend the deadline for her clarification over alleged malfeasance in the rice pledging scheme.

She is subject to give her statement, either verbally or in writing, on Monday but she sought to extend it for 45 days, saying she needed more time to compile evidence and was awaiting documents from related government agencies.

NACC spokesman Sansern Poljiak said the prime minister can provide additional evidence and documents in the hearing process and the NACC has already extended the original deadline by 15 days.

Mr Sansern, NACC secretary general, said Ms Yingluck is required to personally acknowledge the charges and give her clarification, either verbally or in writing.

Failing to do so is tantamount to her refusal to explain which will compel the NACC to consider the case with available information and evidence, he said. (MCOT online news)

Yingluck calls on NACC to treat her like other politicians

BANGKOK: -- Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Friday called on the National Anti-Corruption Commission to treat her like other politicians, saying she was given too short time to defend herself.

She was charged with malfeasance for allegedly failing to stop corruption in the rice-pledging scheme.

Yingluck said she had only three days for studying 280 pages of documents obtained from the NACC.

The NACC Thursday declined to extend the deadline for Yingluck to defend herself. The NACC asked her to defend herself to the NACC on Monday.

Yingluck said she had yet to consult her lawyers as to whether she would meet the NACC in person to provide an explanation or not.

Where comes all this farang hate from? After all, it is not our business. Be happy and chant the Mantra;

Luang Phu

Luang Phu Bhudda Issara

Luang Phu Bhudda Issara Hare Krishna

Luang Phu Bhudda Issara Hare Krishna Hare Rama

Luang Phu Bhudda Issara Hare Krishna Hare Rama Brahamaputra

That makes you very gay, doesn't it. Chant all night long.

By the way, who is the tanned short guy, who does not look like a thai? A football referee?

Or sing it's been nice to know you.

Don't understand why you turn dislike into hate. Are you narrow minded.

Can love her personally and still hate what she is doing to the country.

In the mean time I stopped looking BlueSkyTV with it's claims on 700++ billion lost in the Rice Price Pledging Scheme. Totally unsubstanciated. By now 800++ billion loss seems more likely.

The graft has been so massive that it involves many transactions. I doubt very much the NACC is pushing her to appear with records clearing her on some thing they have no evidence to show she did wrong. If they had nothing she would not have to defend herself.

That would be like grabbing any one of the street and accusing them of murder and making them prove they didn't;'t do it when there was no evidence they did it. They will or they will not get the paper work they require and which she has had plenty of time to prepare. It will in all likely hood take at least a week to hear any thing concrete.

So sit back relax and wait there might be other charges such as murder she will have to defend her self on. Also dereliction of duty.

Just out of curiosity does any one have any idea of how many charges she would not have to face if she dropped all her trumped up charges against Abhist and Suthep and stepped down from her post and declared she was not going to run again? Just a thought.

Thailand will never cease its effort to utilize the justice systems available to intimidate and threaten anyone who is not aligned with its political agendas. The justice system in the country, including the NACC are equally corrupted and easily bribed, so their so called investigations and findings are always tainted with external influences to manipulate outcome of any investigation, rather than the true facts of any case. In fact, there is no single system in Thailand that is not plagued with corruptions and manipulations.

Sigh. Do YOU have any proof at all of what you have said?

If you do publish it on line, write to the newspapers, even pass it to the PTP if you wish?

On the other hand if you do NOT have any proof please insert somewhere in the text, preferably as the first sentence

In my Honest Opinion..............

Now don't be too harsh on her. It's probably just some miscommunication between Ms. Yingluck and her legal team. With her so active travel scheme in a just dropped election campaign the mail probably had problems catching up with her as well. Furthermore the lettersize was probably too minuscule to read easily causing her foot to hurt again.

BTW I though Ms. Yingluck liked to be treated as PM rather than just any other politician?

1.There is as yet no confirmation of any graft. As with most economic activity in Thailand it is quite possible but it remains unproved.

2.The NACC is an instrument of one side including those that wish to muzzle democracy in Thailand.

3.In your remarkably foolish post you seem unaware that your final sentence confirms NACC is partisan and discredited - though even here you are confused. The caretaker PM had nothing to do with the murder charges Abhisit and Suthep were charged with.

Drip drip drip. Care to explain the correlation between lettersize? (I presume you mean font size) and its effect on a torn tendon - otherwise it just seems like yet another childish off topic reference.

Meanwhile, back on topic, the reason Yinglucks legal team have asked for more time was that they had only received 49 pages of evidence to study as of March 20th and had asked for the full report. It looks like they were right to do so, there being an extra 231 pages of evidence in the full report.

One could begin to doubt the alleged independance of the NACC.
