April 2, 201411 yr Hi I have VOS ConvertX to DVD V 5.1.0.15. on Win7. Trouble is when converting a movie with subtitles, the subs come out weird even though they look alright in preview. The first picture is the subs as they should be and the second is as they converted. Have done some searching but seems like another one of those situations where I'm the only one on the whole planet with this problem. Have tried earlier versions of VOS but still the same problem Any ideas, anyone?
April 2, 201411 yr You talking about converting a video file w/ subtitles already embedded or adding subtitles at conversion time from a file such as an .srt file? If the latter, go into Settings | Subtitles | Subtitle text rendering settings and screw around, particularly w/ the Outline size and Shadow offset. Check that you only have one subtitle file listed to be rendered w/ the file.

Have tried the screwing around with the rendering settings and it shows up just fine on the preview window but no matter what the setting the result after conversion is always the same Trouble is I don't see the result till it's burnt to disk - shall have to find a short movie with subs and use rewritable disk and screw around some more

Of course you then play the files w/ a media player, not the same as a DVD player, but still might be helpful. Maybe you've done that? If your DVD player can use a USB stick, you can copy the files over to the USB stick and play from there. Yes, use a very short movie. I suggest downloading a youtube movie and just put any old subtitle file with it (renaming to match the file for greatest convenience).
April 4, 201411 yr It would be interesting to know if your DVD player does the same w/ files produced by other programs, like VirtualDub, Avidemux, or Xilisoft Video Converter ultimate. You can create the files w/ embedded subtitles using the mpg codec (which DVD files use). If not you might try to use the same subtitle settings in ConvertX.
