I haven't seen any gas pipes anywhere and no gas appliances eg cookers other than the ones that run off gas bottles, this may be a silly question but do they have piped gas here?

As far as I am aware there are no domestic gas lines in Thailand. All home cooking is either done with electricity or with gas bottles connected via a regulator to your cooker/oven/grill. The gas bottles you get by putting a deposit down (for the first bottle/s) and these will be refilled/replaced when they are empty, obviously for the cost of the refill.

I doubt it, somehow I dont think plastic(its cheaper) gas pipes running to all the houses would be very wise especially with the way thais regard safetyblink.png

Mains connected domestic gas! That's a brave proposal

Think they need to sort out the installation codes & practice and accountability of the domestic electric supply first.
