Thailand's biggest problem is not the Shinawatra mafia clan, cause you can use the courts to get rid of them. No, the main problem of this country is that there seems to be no alternative. Suthep has swallowed his whistle if what's written here is true! The only way forward is to reform police, the justice system, throw Thaksin in jail through Interpol and have new elections.

Throw Thaskin in jail, yeap that will calm things down, then have new elections which the Reds would win and another Chin would head up. Fact is democracy will mean a Red government for the foreseeable future. How do you reform the police???

By disbanding them for a start.

Can't see this one flying. Did he really say this stuff or did someone lift an article from the onion?

It's total nonsense and Thai Visa should check the original speech, denounce Khaosod's naked misrepresentation, and take it down immediately. It's pure lying, hate-mongering by the desperate and doomed Thaksin clan.

I don't think that anyone believes that he said what khaosod propaganda outlet attributed to him. This is from The Nation. And the Bangkok Post runs similar story. Can you actually sue the media in Thailand for blatantly changing and distorting people's words for their own dark agendas?

PDRC chief ready to seek royal nod for new PM; Jatuporn warns red shirts won't allow unelected premier

Suthep Thaugsuban, leader of the anti-government movement, announced yesterday that if the movement gained "sovereign" status he would seek royal endorsement for a new prime minister.

His announcement came as thousands of pro-government red-shirt demonstrators gathered for a mass rally on Utthayan (Aksa) Road in Nakhon Pathom, just outside Bangkok.

The red-shirt rally is being held at a time when the caretaker government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is facing a number of legal problems that could lead to its demise.

Suthep yesterday said that as "the people's medium", he would nominate a new prime minister for royal endorsement.

He said following that a "people's assembly" would be set up to reform the country by amending the Constitution and relevant laws, before a new election would be organised.

He said that it was now the "final round" of battle against the caretaker government and that the "victory day" for the anti-government movement was drawing closer.

Suthep, secretary-general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), expects the next battle to last about 15 days in a bid to "seize sovereignty back to the people".

He urged all groups of PDRC's supporters to be ready for declaration of "victory day".

"We will have to fight harder and this time it will be known if we will lose or win," he said before a gathering of PDRC supporters at Lumpini Park.

Suthep said the timing of "victory day" would depend on separate actions by the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Constitutional Court against Yingluck.

The prime minister faces neglect-of-duty charges linked to the loss-making rice price-pledging scheme and allegations of abuse of power over the transfer of National Security Council secretary-general Thawil Pliensri.

Suthep said the PDRC would prevent the government and its supporters from denying the authority of the court.

"This time we will seize Thailand. The sovereignty belongs to the Thai people and the government has already committed suicide after dissolving the House of Representatives on December 9. We the people have the right to become the sovereign," he said.

Suthep said that yesterday's meeting of PDRC leaders from all over the country at Lumpini Park was attended by representatives from some 1,800 groups.

At the red-shirt rally, Jatuporn Promphan, leader of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), said he expected as many as 500,000 people to take part in the rally.

He said the red shirts would not allow an unelected prime minister to rule the country and that after 82 years the country had had enough of a "lack of democracy"...

Also what the hell do the UDD think they are doing by making the police official UDD guards? Who happen to be paid by the taxpayer, and let's face it, I doubt many reds pay tax.

This red cop should be fired and all his superiors.

I really can't wait for this new government.... Heads are going to roll all over the place and when the shakeup occurs we will have loads of great things to read.

Especially looking forward to the outlawing of the UDD and the arrest and imprisonment of all its leaders. Also Tarit and Chalerm's retribution.

I can see 7/11 running out of popcorn and beer in 2 weeks time.... better run out and stock up now.10174817_621170867967989_949952174_n.jpg

Absolutely idiotic idea, which will have little support. Given though that his is from Khaosod, I'm not going to give it much credence until it is reported in BP and The Nation, if he actually did indeed say this.

The country needs significant reform, but not led by him.

On BP online, he said he would submit someone to HM the King to be ratified as "PM" or something like that. Thai English translations are often not exact. He didn't say it would be him,and rumors are that it would be someone else other than him.

Yes, I noted that yesterday. I think we gave seen Palakorn's name mooted , although he can hardly be classed as neutral. Suthep should let the courts get on with their jobs and walk away, he's done his job.

I don't think it is Palakorn, but I really am only following current rumors. If it is who I think, you can have the same thought but not openly.

Cheers thanks for the comedy, Would you have any idea of a time line on your

strategy?

Well with the present lot, the PT/Shins, robbing the country blind, I would say somewhere between now and 2 years. Any longer and foreigners will be allowed to buy land in Thailand cause the country will be bankrupted and needs foreign currencies. The problem, let me repeat it, is that the PT will be ousted (amnesty law, rice scheme corruption and all other shenanigans) and that the opposition is/seems lost in translation. The devil's advocate at work.

What would your strategy be? A foreign intervention? Hun Sen is very involved in the present mess!

Huh?, Thailand has got more for ex than most of the developed world

My Dear Posters: You all have credible and intelligent comments. But none of us know if what we are responding to has any credibility in fact. I am reminded of the quote associated with Benjamin Franklin “Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.” None of us know if what is written in any media is true or absolute imagination by the author or simply being used for propaganda purposes. I will not allow myself to be used as fodder for the media, a government, or some protest group. Your comments are relevant to the issue and the reports on the issue. But we have to ask ourselves if the reports on the issue are accurate and factual and even if the issue, as reported in the media, has any factual reality. Let us not be “Sheep” sent to the slaughter by either the media (Pulp or Internet) or any government, politicians, or protest leader with an ulterior motive. I won’t be used by this Corrupt Group. I don’t think any of you will be either.

Anyone in this country can buy and wear police uniforms.

I was in BIG C. Lad Prao and the number of "police" working for the red shirt radio was unbelievable.

There is an old guy (60+) on my soi who wears a police uniform and he just loves riding up and down the soi controlling the traffic. He even takes care of cars (for a small fee) when their owners visit the pubs.

There should be a law against posing as a police officer as there is in many (most) other countries.

I just checked The Nation and the other one and nothing remotely like the Khaosod report......can a journal be SO wrong (although other contributors before me have implied so). If it's as wrong as it appears it's worse than appalling, it's highly dangerous!

http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews/403603/suthep-ups-the-ante-for-final-battle for a start. My cab driver ten minutes ago was visibly upset too about the threats of firing squads. It's not just Khaosod no matter how the Suthep fan club wishes to spin it.

You should also check The Nation's tweets last night. Their pages seem to somewhat watered down today which is not surprising when one considers how much the Nation group has invested in Suthep. Khaosod is not the only news outlet with an agenda.

A few hours later it seems clear the article was a complete fabrication.

But anyhow, i am interested in the truth and intrigued by your statement, hence ask you to help me understand.

You will have read the article that you link to, hence you are fully aware there is no mention of firing squads, but your wording gives the impression that it is. So how about your cab driver being visibly upset. Can you clarify this please?

You wrote that your "cab driver .. was visibly upset about the threats of firing squads. It's not just Khaosod....".

Did you both happen to be in the car listening to a radio station when this was mentioned? if yes which station was it please?

or did he tell you about this directly?

or did you tell him that Suthep had said this, and he was then upset?

or was he just "visibly" upset in the sense that you both actually did not talk and you just assumed it must have been about firing squads?

or... is there another explanation?

tell me please. i am an adult and can take the truth.

Suthep Will Ask HM King To Appoint Himself As Coup Leader

I knew from the beginning of the demonstrations that Suthep was going to this. It is simply a repetition of what was done in 2006 and Suthep has had a draft of his interim constitution in his drawer from day one. Its preamble will be be very much like that of the 2006 interim constitution:

Whereas the Chairperson of the Council for Democratic

Reform successfully seized control over the administration of

the State on 19Ih September B.E. 2549 (2006) and respectfully

informed the King that the grounds for seizure and the

annulment of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand

represented a desire to ameliorate the deterioration of public

faith in the administration of State affairs and the inefficient

supervision of State administration and scrutiny over the

exercise of State powers, which instigated wide scale

corruption and misconduct, while failing to identify and punish

the wrongdoers, resulting in a severe political and

administrative crisis, as well as to heal conflicts within the mass

population which was stirred into factional divisions to the

extent of disintegrating national unity and constituting a severe

social crisis. Many sectors have attempted to resolve this crisis,

but to no avail. Instead, there were signs of further aggravation

I to the point of physical violence leading to possible bloodshed

and loss of life. This situation poses a serious threat to the

national administration, economy and public order. It is

therefore necessary to establish and apply an interim

administrative mechanism that is suitable to the prevailing

situation, taking into consideration the rule of law in accordance

with Thailand's administrative conventions under the democratic

form of government with the King as Head of State, the revival

of a conscientious affection for national unity, the economic

system and public order, the development of a ,strong

corruption monitoring system and a virtuous ethical structure,

the promotion and protection of rights and liberties of the people,

compliance with the United Nations Charter, obligations under

treaties or international agreements, the promotion of friendly

relations with other countries, and subsistence under the

principle of sufficient economy. At the same time, expeditious

proceedings shall be undertaken to prepare a new draft

Constitution with extensive public participation at all stages. So

as to be in accordance with the statement respectfully informed

by the Council for Democratic Reform, the King is graciously

pleased to proclaim the following provisions as the Constitution

of the Kingdom of Thailand (Interim) until the promulgation of a

Constitution which is to be subsequently drafted and presented

to the King.

Oh dear oh dear.

For all those people who said, Suthep doesn't want power himself, hmmmmmm.

Do people really want to give this bloke this absolute power to control anything. He needs to step away from the adulation of his own support.

I don't want him to have absolute power, no, and I'm very surprised to hear all these "statements" from him. If accurate, then I can't support the options he is proposing. It's Khaosod reporting though so I'll take a while and see what else is reported before jumping to conclusions.

It is already reported in several other places........ just not this 'Alice in Wonderland' version.

The true versions where none of this fantasy crap to enrage the red shirts further into terrorist attacks.

Khaosod......... close them down and imprison the lot for incitement to commit terrorist activities and crass disrespect to the king.

Remove ALL their assets and that goes for the reporter too.... Pay it all over to the rice fund.

That goes for every single person that has been proven to incite this hatred including Tarit, Chalerm, Surapong all the Shins.... strip them of everything and give it to the farmers.

Khaosod have such a purely dreadful history given almost all the reporting they have done, to such a degree that they are often completely isolated regarding the stories that they cover and their own inimitable way of reporting them, that it would be prudent to wait until this is covered by other news agencies.

I'm with you on this Scamper.

I cannot comprehend any reason why Suthep would have come out with such statements at this point in the chess game, essentially because it runs directly against what the anti-government protesters stand for.

I am content to wait for a more impartial report on what may have been said, as opposed to the manipulation of statements reported by Khaosod.

Nevertheless, if he did indeed make such statements, then his time leading the fight for democracy is done,

Prbkk, Snig, Fabbie, Moo, Boppe, etc., save your comments until we know the truth...!!

Suthep is not so stupid... all you farang may think he is, but he is a wily old fox... Far from being stupid.

If he had an ounce of honesty or patriotism for his country he would let elections be held without bullying and intimidation if he was not such an anti democrat, like many others connected to him, he would let the 'people', he keeps falsely claiming to represent, determine their own future. The only way forward for this corrupt land is the ballot box, not the soap box.

... after electoral reforms...!!

Sarit, of course, was very popular. Furthermore, his government was the most corrupt in Thai history. But, he did have a wonderful ability to win the national lottery on a weekly basis.

Perhaps his most significant policy was to reinforce the role of the monarchy as the linchpin in Thai culture. It was under Sarit's leadership that members of the monarchy appeared at government projects to aid the farmers etc.

Yes, now I look into this further Khaosod have deliberately misquoted (lied) about what was said to inflame the red shit supporters further and to attempt to discredit Suthep.

I look forward to them being shut down in the morning. Disgusting.

EDIT: I'll add further that this one "article" by Khaosod has (as far I'm concerned) discredited every single other previous article published by them. They lie. Just like their masters.

Yes, Godwin's Law does not apply here because the comparison is so apt. He is barking mad.

Is your statement accompanied by a quenelle? Or is it a canard? You have as much credibility as the latter.

" Mr. Suthep, "We will occupy Thailand so the sovereign power shall truly belong to the people"

"Mr. Suthep elaborated further that he would then install himself as the "Sovereign Body" who will wield absolute power via numerous "Revolutionary Decrees" and adoption of a single charter provision as a legislative blank cheque - in the same manner of military dictators in 1960s, such as the notorious Field Marshal Sarit Thanarat.

"We will have something like Article 17 [of 1959 Administrative Charter] as the highest law," Mr. Suthep said, referring to the charter article which allowed Field Marshal Sarit to fight suspected Communist threats by all means, " will be able to order anyone to be executed by firing squad, but I will only freeze assets".

He continued, "As a Sovereign Body who has seized power, I will have the power to appoint Prime Minister and Cabinet members at my own discretion. Then I will present this list to His Majesty the King, so that he can approve them as the People's Government"." Somebody has to bring this lunitac to a hospital as soon as possible.
