My girlfriend wants to borrow a friends car while we are in Ubon for a few weeks. It is supposedly insured.

Will my girlfriend be covered driving the car?

Does the insurance cover the car or only the owner the car ?

To be sure suggest drive your car to Ubon - and save the bus/air fare ?

The vehicle in Ubon should have the basic Government insurance so yes, she would be legal to drive but with minimal cover. If her friend has any other insurance then you can check the policy wording and see what it says BUT in any case check the expiry date on whatever policy the vehicle has.

It's better to check with the owner if she's covered or not since I know she should be registered or something. Call the insurer too if you are still in doubt. We should always be on he safe side if we are talking about if does car insurance cover the car or the driver.
