Google problems?

Featured Replies

Is it just for me? For the last few hours links in Google search results won't open and Google Finance and Google Maps also don't respond. (GMail, however, is OK.)

No problems here with Google Maps and Google Search on TOT.

Since a couple of hours I have been planning our next trip through Europe (renting a camper van) with Google Maps and Google Search and no problems what so ever.

Odd, given that I'm with TOT too.

Just went through a whole slew of YouTube clips an hour ago, and now playing a 3-hour music relaxation video. No problems at all.

It sounds corny but reboot / restart your router, maybe the IP Addresses that has been issued by TOT to your Router is causing your problems. A reboot is the easiest way to get a new address.

Good Luck

Is the browser sticking on a particular URI, as some pages may access 10 or more different sites while rendering the page?

If using chrome browser, look in the extreme bottom left as the browser lists what URL the page is attempting to fetch.

If the content is something that I don't feel like putting off till later I'll usually enable Hola! proxy extension and select Singapore to jump around the issue. Usually works.

Yes, MJCM, I had this happen a couple of days ago. I thought it very odd as I have just switched from TOT aDSL to FTTx service last week.

Was experiencing major delays in page rendering. After checking my local equipment and running some utils I notices that the TOT Gateway was extremely slow to serve data from about 80 DNS machines in Thailand... but 5 were still OK. After resetting the Router it was issued a different IP address with a different Gateway -- and all the fetches from the 80 DNS machines were back to super fast.

I'm guessing that the previous Gateway was either saturated, misconfigured or had some other issue. Lucky me it wasn't the only Gateway being served up.

The most obvious problem for me is when clicking on a link on a result from a Google search. (The initial search itself is OK.) Clicking on a result forces you first to go to a Google server before being redirected to the actual site you want. The hang is on the initial going to the Google server - it simply doesn't respond.

I've tried rebooting PC and router to no avail.

I know that Google caches a lot of its data in Thailand. It could be that there are problems with the cache.

I also know that Google has private network capacity between Asian and the States. There could be problems with the private network.

Thank you. Should have thought of that. Turned on Hola! and things are now working just fine. It's obviously a local network problem which no doubt will get fixed in time.

Nice to hear that you solved it, and RichCor clap2.gif That's a perfect example of thinking outside of the box !! Not using Hola just for iPlayer but also for general browsing. wai.gif

FYI. I use TOT and I started having problems with gmail last night. This morning everything Google and YouTube is unreachable; everything else is fine (except sites with embedded google/youtube stuff). In addition to the above, getting a lot of red ESET NOD32 antivirus alerts from trying to go to Google/YouTube domains. Using Hola with gmail got me in for a second, then triggered new alerts.

Edited with update. Switching hola to singapore didn't help, but switching to usa seems to fix it.
