I think most Thai women want to marry someone with whom they can be happy... I don't know if money has so much to do with it as money will never make you happy long term.

But it is a well-established code of liberalism that the only reason there are any unhappy people is because the don't have money.Money they didn't earn is the best at bringing satisfaction to the poor, according to liberals.

I mean, what is welfare, socialism and The Occupier Movement all about?

Based on that, I'd say most girls (rich or poor) marry for money. Especially poor girls, because they don't have to marry for poor; they already got that.

Modern culture screams to them how happy money will make them.

But there is one more factor I find interesting.

Many Thai women who would like to get married, have no interest in Thai men.

With some it is a physical attraction thing, they want tall, light skinned men, not short and dark.

But many Thai women have told me they do not like the way so many Thai men treat women, with little or no respect and used as a possion, something to be owned and controlled.

They also know that many Thai men are not ambitious enough to really try to earn a good living.

They do like the way they see so many westerners treat the women they are with.

And being motivated enough to generate a decent income is a plus too!

I am often asked by Thai women if I knw any good farangs they could marry.

I always ask why they want a farang and not a Thai man.

The above are the answers I get most often.

Before I get all of "those " replies,

I know not all Thai men are bad to women and all westerners are not good men..but this is what the Thai girls that I know and talk to see!

Thai women see all farangs as "millionaires"..........Many make a big mistake, and find out where hubby comes from the streets are not paved with gold, my Mrs.Trans for one..........

1. No kids (that includes kids from previous relationship) wanted whatsoever

2. No family (not from me, not from you) around the house

3. I don't buy a house

4. Each our own finances/bank account (In other words: you will have to work and are free to do with your money whatever you want)

5. English as mutual language (it's not my mother tongue either so fair & square)

6. Jazz music or vintage thai folk/ballads only. Luk thung from the 60s and 70s on sunday (I pay the croissants)!

7. No facebook

8. No soap series

9. Tampon: Yes / Sanitary towel: No

10. No worshipping of imaginary friends/supreme beings

Some of them were married before and had to "support" their husbands, they bet the shit out of them, etc...so they know from "hearsay" that foreigners are different.

And some didn't. I have 2 Thai male friends who've been married happily to their Thai wives for the past 30 years.

Undoubtedly there are women who want a foreigner for the reasons you state ...i truly believe that but you should ask them.....ok....what can YOU give to that foreigner ?
