need visa advice! aussie girl having thai baby...tourist visa expires 1 week after the baby is due

Featured Replies

Thank you everyone who answered this for me, I will go to immigration and find out what i need from my doctor to get the extension on my visa for after the birth.

Once that is done I have time to sort out which visa I can get. solved. thank you

as for the people who didn't really have anything useful to add except questions about my life "why would i leave this till now" "am I married to the father?" "why has it taken me 24 hours to reply to this thread maybe im in hospital now" haha seriously??? its none of your business really...get your own life people...get outside...get off your computer...get some friends or something because you clearly have too much time on your hands smile.png

Really thank you to the people with the correct info you have been really helpful and its true a lot of the time the OP wont repost because the question was already answered and the rest of the people posting are just sitting there looking for something to disagree with or something that someone worded wrong...ahh trolls

Nice to know that you've got the visa figured out.... so you can leave the country once recovered.... but can you legally take the baby with you? That I think was the focus of some of the personal questions being asked.... but since that is none of our business we will just hope you already know the answer.

Take the Baby with her? Did she ask for that? Was that her question? If not, why care. smile.png

You can get a medical extension if your doctor/hospital declare you unfit for travel.

From Police order 777/2551

2.25 In the case of medical treatment or convalescence or to look after a patient:

Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 90 days at a time.

(1) Confirmation and request has been made by a physician responsible for the treatment. The Physician must describe the details of treatment and advised that the illness is a barrier for traveling.
(2) In the case of looking after a patient, confirmation and request has been made by the physician responsible for the treatment or by an embassy or consulate.
(3) Patient Carer, except parents, spouse, children, adopted children or children of spouse, shall be granted no more than 1 extra person.

You cannot get a "spouse" vise, unless you are married. But you might be able to get a non-O visa based on being the mother of a Thai national.

After the baby is born you should get a Thai birth certificate, listing the nationality of the baby as Thai based on the father. That will establish his Thai nationality and enable you to get a non-O visa as the mother of the child.

Extensions of stay based on the cild for year are possible if you have an income of 40,000 a month OR 400,000 baht in a bank account in your name.

IMHO - These are the two best responses.

However, an actual income is not necessary,if 40k is moved every nonth back and forth between banks, to create the illusion of an income. A friend has done this, as he had only a 35k income, but did have savings.

The income requirement is ridiculous - 10 times the Thai National average..??, Yet such foreigners cannot become citizens..??

Can I ask how this person did this without a letter from their embassy or consulate confirming their income. Immigration will not accept just a bank book to prove income.

If working they will accept tax payments to prove income along with a work permit.

It seems Louise77 hasn't bothered to post addn'l info to clarify the issue - something I've noticed on other threads - after the original question is posed the OP has an attention span lapse and multiple replies are added and OP never returns to the thread.

Of course, she may wait until last minute to read and respond as she did to post. However, one would think that a reply concerning an upcoming birth would important.... unless she is now in hospital....

Is this what is called trolling? coffee1.gif

She did thank everyone in advance

except that she then came back and poured a bucket of sh!t over the heads of peoples who's answers she didn't like, which were given in good faith (based on experience) but she took to be too judgemental or prying.
