Hi,

We are looking for some bushy trees (window height) that will give privacy from our neighbors. As much as we love our neighbors we don't want to be able to see right into their window and vice versa smile.png , haha.

I don't mind if they aren't a flowering kind (although those would be welcomed as well), but just something that bushes out and won't grow too high so that window level privacy is maintained.

We stay in Isaan, if that makes any difference. I am a novice with gardening, so something that won't be too difficult to take care of in the Isaan climate would probably be best.

Thanks for any help. Sorry if this sounds like a trivial thread, but the expert advice of the Thai Visa forum is invaluable wai2.gif

Maybe bougainvillea, plant a line of them different colours and they will intermingle. Keep trimming until you get the size and shape you want.

They grow quite quick and the only attention they need is trimming with shears.

They are very thorny, could be a plus or a minus.

Couple questions for clarification.

How high are your windows and do you want them to block your light though the window , that is if you are planning to plant them along the building line or are you intending to plant them along the boundary and what distance is the boundary from the windows ?. There will be two different answers dependant on the location .

You could also think about lattice screens and perhaps a climber like passion fruit .

If you plant trees do you intend keeping them to size by pruning as some trees do not handle regular pruning and so shrubs may be more appropriate.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Xen... they will be planted along the boundary about 3m from the house. And the windows are about 3m from the ground level (to the top of the window)

Cheers

Both Murraya paniculata, Syzygium campanulatum would be very suitable. Depending on your situation and the neighbour's yard you could also plant fruit trees as the foliage would be able to give you privacy especially if you have a concrete wall. Hibiscus would also do and Xylosma spp is a plant i have used quite a few times.

Bamboo may be used but be aware of the problems with it too.
