Bredbury Blue Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I will be up in Chiangmai at the weekend and I need to know where the family and I (there will be two kids 9 & 11 yrs) can watch CTH football (we want to watch the Man City v WHU game)? Can anybody either: 1. Recommend a decent standard hotel that shows CTH football (either we would stay there for a couple of nights as we're in CM or just go there to watch the game) Or 2. Recommend a place/pub we go to to watch the game? Look forward to receiving your help. Cheers
nev Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 StevieH's house i think he is from up there, but i think a battle for the remote might ensue. 1
alfieconn Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Apparently a few West Ham get in Sheryls Bar on match days so they should have it on. Footnote : Beware of pickpockets in Sheryls Bar when football is being played, lol
SantiSuk Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Was speaking to the English owner of a new bar, Mobi's, in the darkside of Pattaya at the weekend. He is not surprised that few bars have CTH - apparently all those little foibles we have come across as domestic consumers are magnified 10x if you are trying to get it up and running for a bar. He and his wife spent days on the phone tearing their hair out and guess what - still no bill. Sorry to digress OP since talking Pats not CM. Mobi does have it up and running btw and it's a bar I would recommend if you have transport. One of the first bars you come to on the lake if you come off Sukhumvit and drive about 7k (very rough estimate) up soi Siam Country Club.
StevieH Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Apparently a few West Ham get in Sheryls Bar on match days so they should have it on. Footnote : Beware of pickpockets in Sheryls Bar when football is being played, lol pickpockets? really? on the same street as sheryle's bar there's also the UN irish pub and chiang mai saloon that both show all the matches and have CTH. UN irish pub shows pretty much every match i think, chiang mai saloon is able to show three games simultaneously.
Chicog Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 UN Irish Pub they have loads of TV's. Get there early if you want a table, I would imagine it will be busy, closing day and all, and all the games on at the same time.
Bredbury Blue Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Thanks for the tips on the Ratwithi Road bars...any decent standard hotels show CTH?
Bredbury Blue Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 Ok we're staying at the Imperial mae ping hotel so is my best bet still the UN Irish bar soi OR is there any pub/bar closer to my hotel which would be a better bet for us?
Chicog Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Not with all the choice of games there isn't.But a lot of bars have at least one game on.

I was just working on the law of averages that if there were 10 hammers in a bar then at least 2 of them would have been up to no good, lol

Do you want somebody to wipe your backside as well? Right, come out of the Hotel and turn left, walk unto you hit Loy Kroh rd, turn right and keep walking and cross the the Night Bazaar rd heading between Macs and Burgerking, 50 meters on the left you have the Red Lion (Kevin) who might be showing the game ! if not keep walking down the same road and about 100 meters on the right you have an Aussie bar (Stewart) who has 3 tv screens and will probably being showing it. Approx 10 min walk from your hotel against 45 min walk for Un bar.
Chicog Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Or head for the Zoom Bar in the Thai Boxing entertainment place on Loi Kroh. He has a couple of CTH boxes I think.

Bredbury Blue Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks to everyone for your help (including Pattaya Prat) in making an excellent night in Chiangmai...only my 2nd visit in my 3 decade of living here...note to self: must visit more often. We went to the UN Irish pub...took a walk up to the other bars on that street at halftime for a chat with some of the scousers. We would have been the only City fans there in a street full of Reds. LOVED IT! Respect to any scousers there last night who handled the dissapointment well. Cheers!

Pattaya Pat Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 And apologies to Pattaya Pat... Ha ha, no need! Good to see my boys (the mighty Hammers) give your boys a scare, I don't believe we could even a muster a shot on target. We are truly a pathetic outfit masquerading as PL side. Complete and utter joke side and I'm praying that yesterday was his last game in charge, but I fear the worst. I honestly wouldn;t put Nolan in a pub side. Did you enjoy CM then? It's been a while since I was up there and thinking of a trip myself but might wait until Loy Krathong as meant to be very nice there then and I think er indoors wants to do that.

Apparently the Chairman spoke at a Supporters Club even and apologised for the quality of football served up. Make of that what you will, although you wonder if Fatty knows any other style of football other than "Lump it in the Box".

They can dump him in a football graveyard, but I'll always honor him for laughing at Chico Flores. A favorite moment of mine.

If he is going to get canned then it will be tomorrow at the latest I would think. Of course he only has one way to play, which is why we continue to play the same way when we are losing a game. Take yesterday, we are behind in a game and he puts a striker on (and believe me I'm using the term 'striker' very loosely as I'm referring to dear old Carlton Cole) so you think well that makes sense you need 2 strikers on the pitch if you're chasing a game, but what does he do? he takes Carroll off. Saying this, it was clear that he didn't give a toss about the game anyway. Can you actually believe he said after the game that it was a 'performance to be proud of' not one shot on target? I just pray that he goes. He has no place in top flight football today and should be working at somewhere like Huddersfield now. 1
StevieH Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 but but but if his name was only allardiccio he'd be a shoo-in for the england manager's job. or something. can't remember many managers with such delusions of their own grandeur.
Chicog Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 And yet he has kept West Ham at the top table, and as you know money talks.
StevieH Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 given the quality of some of the teams down at the foot of the table this season i'd have fancied my own chances of keeping west ham at the top table. and playing more attractive football too.
