Seat repair / replacement (used?) - Toyota Granvia

Featured Replies

I have bought an old Toyota Granvia, nice old bus really, but in it's (questionable?) past someone has decided to modify it from a 7 seater to an 8 seater.

They did this by taking one of the two single seats with arm-rests in the middle row and transform it into a double bench seat.

This means that this seat now fills the gap where you were supposed to pass through to the back row of seats and also means that the new twin bench seat has no seatbelts.

Does anyone know where I may be able to get the seat returned to it's single state (unlikely I think as individual components, like plastic side caps, arm rests and seat belt buckles have been lost) OR where I might get a replacement original seat from?

Where are you based ?

Plenty of breakers/ car repairers and seat makers/upholsterers everywhere.

I'm in Bangkok.

I just posted this here in case anyone had a particular place they could recommend. Not speaking very much Thai makes visits to breakers yards a bit of a challenge!

Go to Chieng Gong, Bang Plee. Huge area of secondhand and new car parts. Just past Svarnabhumi village (Tesco,Homepro) of the Bang Na Tradt going towards Bangkok.

Look for an arch for the entrance although they've now blocked off the end of the first road to cars, so better to look at the map and find the side way in for the main area.

Take your car and point.

Thanks, I did find a website for this which looked promising. It seems to be a website representing the collective of businesses on the site, not sure how effective the "contact us" service is though, I sent a message a few days ago but no response!

I guess I'll just have to roll down there.

I like your approach to communication barriers also!

I have to thank you again for the information in this post, which proved to be very helpful and accurate.

We had to drive 2 kms up and back down the service roads because of the blocked road you spoke of. But once in the main área we found a place specialising in mini-vans and MPVs who had a seat for my van. It's not the same upholstery as the original, but considering that it'll have a baby seat plonked on top of it I don't think its even worth recovering.
