They may or may not be placed on the immigration black list of banned aliens depending on the seriousness of the crime. If a suspect declares himself or herself not guilty, long term bail and a cash bond will be required. It may take months for the case to be heard in not guilty pleas.

Ok the law is the law and they broke it. The police were only doing their job which I understand, but what is with the snitch. Nobody likes scum like that especially one who snitches on their own. (in this case a foreigner snitching on another foreigner). Who is this scum and why wasn't his name mentioned? I am wondering, what crime did he commit? My guess and I am only guessing, is that he did something wrong so he helped the police in order to get off his punishment.

What if he didn't have any then? What if stopped by the the cops after having a couple too many beers and didn't have the 20-50K and didn't want to go to jail in Jomtien? What if caught smoking ganja? There is a lot of possibilities here, don't be quick to judge. Most people don't want to get sent home and/or blacklisted and lose the life they build in here for something so trivial.

That said, if he did it only for his own benefit and wasn't in trouble, then yes, that would make him a true scumbag.

Since the betting happens outside of Thailand you probably don't break any gambling laws here, though I guess you will need a workpermit to make the phone call.

You only need a Work Permit if you win.

It's likely to be one of those retarded volunteer police who like to pretend to be important. They are probably sat around now regaling their story of how they went deep under cover to break a foreign organised crime syndicate.
