tonytigerbkk
I am not denying that some yellow shirts have been paid but if they have there is no evidence being shown on here. Maybe the PDRC are paying their followers but they are a little more discrete about it. However, there is not a shadow of a doubt that the red shirts pay people to attend their rallies (and not expenses) and that they use bribery and intimidation to get votes. Anyone who denies this is happening either has not lived in Thailand for more than a year (in some cases never lived in Thailand) or is an idiot or is a troll or all of the above. smedly
Yellows don't get paid, no way Jose.... but wait, they were paying 800b a day in my locale a few months ago, picking people up in pick-ups and heading for Suthep's Walks for Fascism Reform, and offering it to all and sundry. Could we see some real proof of that ? Strange no stories of that in the news but the reds all the time with stuff like this. So either it does not happen with the yellows or it happened many many more times with the reds why it gets discovered more. Either way reds are nothing more then rent a mob while the yellows pay for pleasure to protest really stand behind their choice and ideology. "Strange no stories of that in the news but the reds all the time with stuff like this." I hope you're joking because if you aren't, you have not been paying attention. They've paid much more to the yellows in Phuket in the past. you've lost me - what is a yellow ?
darren84310
I saw them too - Sat morning being dropped off in their Mercedes Benz, and telling their driver to come and pick them up by 4pm at the latest! They had to jog a little bit to catch up with the parade though! I think it is fair to say there will be some reds and some yellows who participate because they truly believe in the cause and don't get paid - and at the same time there are many others on both sides that are paid to attend. Yep, that's exactly what I expected from someone with a blinkered mindset. Not one of them has money enough to talk about, they all work as office clerks, factory workers at Toyota, bank clerks, in engineering, etc. They generally earn between 15,000 to 30,000 baht per month and live on the outskirts of Bangkok. Most of them have children to support.

ramrod711
Did you forget about the guy who was outside Thaksins office protesting with a bullhorn? He claimed that he was to be paid 14,000 baht to bring several truckloads of reds to Bangkok. The press arrived in time to film a woman emerge from the office, tell the guy to go away or else he would be beaten. He refused to leave and a very tall man (my wife said he was a minor movie star) came out and beat the crap out of him. By the way, I used to give you credit for being the brightest of a fairly inarticulate group, the more you deny every news report that is vaguely anti PTP the more credibility you lose. The Red Shirt Security Chief and former actor that pummeled and bloodied the much older man, who had the temerity to ask to get paid what he was promised, was Methee Amornwuttikul. Thank you very much for the information. When I saw the incident on television I found it to be very disturbing, not just the beating but the fact that none of the onlookers did anything to help. I asked my wife if the guy would go to jail, she said no, probably just a fine.

I asked my wife if the guy would go to jail, she said no, probably just a fine. Correct. Red Shirt Methee was fined 2,000 baht for bashing and bruising Pheu Thai Party official Adisarat Thampithak He was also sentenced to one month in jail after being found guilty of assault and destruction of personal property (he thrashed some of Adisarat's equipment, too) on May 10, 2010. However, the jail sentence was suspended because Red Shirt Methee had no prior convictions. As for no one intervening in the beating that occurred right on the front steps of Pheu Thai Party headquarters, perhaps when one considers they saw the utter madness in Red Shirt Methee's eyes as he began his psychotic break of thrashing a man half his size and twice his age, it's a bit more understanding. However, tough guy as he was, Red Shirt Methee ended up in a witness protection program after receiving death threats from Red Shirt Leader Jatuporn. Methee had been arrested on weapons charges and had subsequently turned states' witness in order to testify for the prosecution regarding the multiple illegal activities of other Red Shirts Leaders.
SheungWan
Such are the benefits of Thaksin-style democracy.
Dr Bruce
Both sides have paid people to protest and to vote. It has been going on for as long as there have been protests and voles in Thailand. I suspect that the democratic side pay more than the anti-democratic side as they tend to have supporters with less money. However, the 2 high profile cases that are dominating the news over the last few days are different. They are both false flag operations with photos of the fist group and people being identified as PDRC lairs. the second case, outside of the police station was a group of PDRC agitators who wanted to be believed as Taxi drivers who had not been paid to protest but attacked the reporter when they saw he was filming. Why did they not want pictures?
Skywalker69
Purely speculation, But where are the reds getting the money for this, I wonder if rice money is involved? or just maybe it's from some mysterious and generous billionaire benefactor The benefactor that got paid 1 biljon USD from the Yingluck government. fasteddie
Not at all, I'll enlighten you again. This video was referring to the 500 baht allowance that Thais over 60 who do not have retirement benefits are entitled to. The pension fund was launched on April 9th 2009. Abhisit also added a populous programme of one-off 2000 Baht handouts. It has been taken by people of less enquiring minds to refer to Thaksin talking about funding protesters or some other such BS. Any other myth you'd like me to explain to you? This is perhaps the worst case of clutching at straws I have ever seen. But I must say I am enjoying his anguish. You're giving him too much credit Mikemac. This is deliberate misinformation which, unfortunately, seems to happen too often to be forgiven. This thread does require BS for the reds to have any counter 'argument'. If this is deliberate misinformation, he should be banned, again. Because banning free speech is one of Suthep's reforms?
