Transfer registration after lease completed

Featured Replies

The lease of my current car is completed. I received the documents to change the registration.

2 options : let Nissan complete the whole thing send us 2000 Baht or do it by yourself send us 300 Baht.

Is it worth to do it by yourself or is the 1700 Baht difference the cost of the transaction ?

The registration plate is now in Rayong, while I live in Chonburi, so I will need to change registration plate I assume. I also assume that the price of changing the plate is not included in the 2000 Baht as I probably will have to pick it up personally and turn in my old plate.

Anyone experience with this ?

Our Leased Benz Cars had to be bought back. No one wanted them as they asked to much.thumbsup.gif

The issue isn't buyback as it is actually a finance, which is called lease here, but what the actual cost is to change the name in the book and change the license plate.

I'm even not sure if a change of license plate is necessary.

You don't HAVE to change the plate .. it really depends if you have time and patience ..if yes do it yourself .. if no get the finance company to do it.

Any idea about what costs are involved when doing the transfer yourself.

Is changing the plate to the province you live in an extra cost, and is it included in the 2000 baht the company charges, or is it to pay separately.

Not 100% sure. But if you get a new plate you need new tax and basic insurance (I think)

Personally I would just get the company to change.

That was actually also my idea, but if it is all little hassle and I can save 1700 Baht in a few hours why not. If those few hours save me only like 500 Baht, of course I'm not gonna consider it.

Road tax and insurance expire at the same time so that's no issue, but I was thinking that if I change the plate to the province I reside, I will have to spend those few hours at the DLT anyway.

Jesse if you Google M,Benz Thailand. You will find there are 3 Categories. Finance , Leasing and Fleet Finance. It would have been clearer if the O.P. stated. On The Drip, never never, etc, Not Leased. Regarding plate change, takes about an hour generally. They insist on retaining the old ones on site.So if its a BMW with Superglue behind it, perhaps a little longer.
