thinking about buying a new computer.. was looking at these "all in one" styles.. has anyone bought one of these?? happy with them??

do you get windows 7 or 8?? i hear problems with 8.. original or copy software ok?? does windows itself do everything,, the basics or do you need more to be able to burn cds, watch movies, listen to music

anyone know of a reputable shop in the pattaya area to deal with??

thanks

pirate software works as well as the original version and most shops willl be happy to install it for you

if you buy a laptop from them ,its commonplace i bkk so probably pattaya too

Wow. Rather you than me.

It sounds like Windows will do just about everything you want, and if it doesnt there are loads of free programmes that will almost certainly do everything you would need.

'All in one styles'? What's that then, a laptop? Most will come with 7 as standard (legit will cost you another 4k ish). Yes it will do everything, if you have the hardware that is--DVD drive and suchlike.

W8 is tailored to tablets, don't need that.

Go for something like a midrange Asus from the likes of IT City (nationwide chain), or perhaps a Mac if you really don't know what you're doing. ;)

All in one means if one thing breaks, you got to take it all back to fix. Be wary. Yeah i know the same can be applied for a laptop, but in my view, a desktop should be modular and interchangeable - good point actually, limits rolling upgrades.

Unless things have changed it will not give you the Office Suite blink.png

You will not have a word processor, which I think practically everybody uses.

As mentioned, free software covers that - OpenOffice

Hence the second part of my comment pointing out that free programmes (like LibreOffice/OpenOffice) are available to fill in any gaps that Windows may leave.

Actually with Windows you can download the Writer word processing software for free from Microsoft. And the starter version of MS Office is also available for free, if you dont mind some ads.

So I would say that Windows + widely available free software covers the needs of most basic users.

At one time I was thinking of buying a All in One PC,but

I opted for buying a Nettop Pc and Monitor,so if one

component breaks in a All in one,the whole PC is useless,

It also means you can buy a bigger monitor ,as most All

in ones have about 20" -21.5 " screen, check out InvadeIT

they have a range of Nettops and Monitors.

I have the Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 Touchscreen AIO and I put Windows 8 on it. Then I put Classic Shell on it.

It's rocket fast and does everything I need. But I never, ever, use the touchscreen.

All the USB ports, DVD drive, etc. are in the base, and it has a very small footprint for a 27".

In this day and age, stay away from pirate software, it's usually infected with nasties, only some of which will get picked up by an anti-virus package.

Tukcom is probably the place to go and look

Yes, I like my tower with all its 100% standard slot-in components. When bits break (which isn't often) I can easily find a cheap replacement part. Also easy to add extras.

As other posters have pointed out, one thing breaks and the lot is useless until repaired. What happems when they no longer have parts for it, too?The parts would be a real model specific thing. Wouldn't touch one with a 10-foot pole.
