Thai army imposes night-time curfew across country

Recommended Posts

How does killing my pay to view movies and sports help this out. Plus I have an up coming flight arr DM 11:30PM and get to other airport for 5AM check in - oh the joy. totally screwed up. I guess nok will have to change my flight to afternoon and hang out in the other airport from 10PM to 5 AM so I am not a pumpkin.

From NOK Air Facebook page:

Nok Air would like to advise passengers that due to the curfew in effect between 22.00 - 05.00 passengers with late and early flights are required to have I.D. and travelling documents ready for inspection.

All Nok Air flights will operate as normal but we advise passengers to have all documents ready and spare extra time to avoid any inconvenience.

i was just at patpong and the girls were worried about business. i guess their worries just got confirmed.

I agree it it going to be interesting to see how the bars and clubs treat this.

One thing though. It says you cannot leave your house between 10 and 5.

What happens if you already left it at 8 and are at the bar. and it is 11 are you still ok.

Maybe it just means that you are going to have to stay there all night LOL.

As to the airport arrivals. I think that a way of resolving that is to have buses setup to take people to hotels. Tourist arrives shows hotel booking confirmation gets on buss tht takes them to hotel.

Works for me. Actually best thing that could happen to tourist.

The girls will be pushing to turn tricks during the day...come in for lunch and a brew...and get molested...lol

All TV channels now blocked. internet will be blocked from 8pm. This is serious stuff. Trouble brewing with Red Shirts.

That's odd- BBC etc all still working in sunny Pattaya.

Some friends are off to the cinema to see the new X Men- hope they won't have to live on popcorn all night as film finished after ten.

Our vast local market opens at 2am - what are all the traders going to do? Throw all the food away?

probably won't apply to some tourists areas, can't imagine all of them sitting in their hotel drinking beer and watching TV. smile.png They can do that back in their falang country.

Great thinking. Can you see if you're right and If you don't get back we'll know.

I flew out of Thailand 2 days ago. Seems my timing was perfect.

Feel sorry for all the people that are suffering financially because of this. The elite and their puppet Suthep can sit back knowing they got their way but they know in their hearts their time is short. Once you have awakened peoples desire for democracy and given them a taste there is no going back.

When an event i cant mention happens in the very near future their time will be up, even if they have secured a friendly government in power for when it happens. This of course is what this was all about..... corruption?? haha give me a break

Apparently Thailand has a close relationship to USA in that it is termed a non-NATO ally. USA is now legally obliged to impose certain sanctions on Thailand. So it is going to affect them economically

Good ole USA...we will be your friend...if you adhere to our strict rules of conduct...what a crock...

It's not April 1 is it?.

I mean, how can the enforce this. If you leave your house at 9pm to go to the airport to catch a late plane, are you in breach of the curfew at 10pm on highway 7 in a taxi.?

I'm also in despair about the TV being taken over completely. Don't watch Thai TV but the principle is very sinister.

Fist para: No, you will not be in breach of a curfew as the THAI taxi driver will be taking you to an AIRPORT. The country's not on lockdown.

Secondly: The net is much much wider than Thaivisa and Facebook. Do a search on every bloody thing under the sun. OR, and this is novel, read a bloody book. Or novel laugh.png

Watching TV ? You mean DVD's. Here in Chiang Mai no TV. All sport & movies & everything now just "beautiful" music. Ah well, an early night every so often is ok, I guess.

Hi everyone. I have been viewing Thai Visa for a few years now but am new to posting comments, so hello to everyone smile.png

My name is Jay and have been living in Thailand for 3 years now.

I am quite ignorant to how this works, in terms of the army taking control. Who controls the army? I always believed that a governent decides what the army can do, so how can the army seize power of government? Who gives them permission?

Cheers

Thailand does not have a western style democracy.

I hear the Phuket police already setting up control points near the airport to stop people arriving during the ban.

Not to worry after the bribe have been paid you can pass...

The constitution has been scrapped.............................didn't know they had one

It was THEIR Constitution, after the 2006 coup.

Apparently it wasn't undemocratic enough, next Constitution will guarantee their absolute power forever without the risk of "outsiders" winning the elections...Sit and wait....Thailand is a sinking ship....sinking into a sea of desperation....

if it does it wont be because if the army .It will be the fault of the useless corrupt politicians the country has .And thats because of the mentality of the country

What's your source on this? It's 8:20 and all's well.

Surely they must know that the Internet isn't just a place for posting cat pictures; it's a critical piece of the country's infrastructure that schools and businesses rely on.

decent people sleep at night

So,the many thousands of rubberfarmers, who must work at night, are not decent people? Don`t think they can afford to loose their income though,so they will probably go out,at least I know people in my village will.

And what about late international flights?

I was just thinking this.

How does this work?

They will just have to circle the airport until 5am, but lets hope they are not all on the same flight path, cause there will be no traffic controllers - that will be a good advertisement for tourism.

All those who were celebrating Martial Law on another thread, and the down fall of the Shinawatras - welcome to the real world. And next time, be a little more careful what it is you wish for!

Meaning?
