Thai army summons ex-PM Yingluck, others in Thaksin clan

I for one am going to miss her ....

Don't you mean that "you are the only one that is going to miss her" as that is more accurate to the truth???

How is "The Committee" going to sort out the next floods when they sadly inevitably come again without the plucky Yingluck at the helm to steer the Good Ship Thailand into safer waters. I think we should be told !

Very funny!!! I'm afraid I'm not hungry so this is all you are going to get.

"Billionaire turned politician" is historically inaccurate, his money was stolen from the people after he became a politician, he was a lowly police offcer stealing tea money before...

Yet another poster who has never bothered to do ANY research, and is therefore ignorant of the truth, post crap he THINKS, or HEAR someone say. Clue: Google Thaksin and then READ. Maybe your lack of intellectual capabilities won't be so obvious to the world then.

Taksin was NOT A billionaire until after he entered politics, even police corruption does not get them into that league. Are you really that dumb?

Are YOU that dumb? Did I say anything about him being a "billionaire" before entering politics? No! But YOUR statement of "..he was a lowly police officer stealing tea money before" is rather ignorant of the facts. Thaksin, while in the police, started his telecom business, making him a millionaire, and if I remember correctly, he left the police as a Lt Col. Hardly a "lowly police officer".

You know, Google and Wikipedia are wonderful sources of information. You might try using them sometime to get the FACTUAL TRUTH before running your mouth about things for which you are illinformed (read: IGNORANT) .

But then again, far too often people such as yourself really hate for the truth and actually facts to get in the way of your personal rant.

Compared to the scale of money being stolen in his political role whatever rank he had in the police was only paying tea money by comparison... The hard facts are important... My original post commented on the claim he was a billionaire before being a politician, that is the point i dispute..not complicated.. I know the shin lovers are finding this a difficult time but it will all be history soon enough..

Nobody's got anybody. She walked in of her own accord.

The former prime minister is a courageous person to walk in to the Lion's Den as she has, rather than to flee Thailand.

We'll see the civility of the Boyz in Uniform now as the whole world watches.

So are the reds and all of Thailand watching and taking notes.

You wish you had the balls Yingluck has, and she has more balls than her brother ever had. It is also clear what course of action her brother has advised.

Carry on.

The reds are a spent force of no relevancy now - they can bleat from the hill tops as much as they like but things are to be done 'Prayuth's way' now and everyone has to accept that whether they like it or not!!!

Thank god he had the guts and courage to hold a bloodless coup in which the reds protesting in Bangkok were herded up and sent back to their Northern heartland with their tails between their legs. That will teach them to threaten the army with a tin-pot bunch of inadequate's posing with their pitchforks.

Self inflicted wounds methinks and what did they get out of it?? absolutely zilch apart from one hell of a smack in the teeth which was thoroughly deserved!!!

They should be taught 'respect commonsense' and 'if something sounds too good (rice scam) then don't believe it as it IS too good to be true!!

The fact is the world is watching how the coup generals might treat the former prime minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.

They should take away her passport for a start and even hold her under house arrest until her part in the 'great rice scam' has been through the courts and if she has to spend prison time then so be it!!! Other than that she should be fed and watered according to human rights laws.

tell them southern man, they 'll listen to you.

no sadly the world is not watching. you must live in a bubble. cnn has had no coverage of thailand until recently. i take it you never spent a single day in the military. i have, 4 years. generals dont mistreat public figures. but politicians will. She did not go because she had her brothers balls with her, she went because she was told to, like the good puppet she is.

open yourself up to the world and you'll find out, double bubble...and cnn = triple bubble

I've always found Dutch uncles to be overbearing and bloated in their erroneous notions of self-importance and self-supposed savvy. I recall New York was originally New Amsterdam until a British Naval fleet suddenly arrived one fine and fortuitous day (Jan Kees).

Much to the chagrin of many Dutch uncles, the Brits and the locals together dismantled the larger territory of New Netherlands into the new colonies, now states, of New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware. Sorry 'bout that. (Not really smile.png.pagespeed.ce.CwSpBGGvqN.png )

It was the Dutch who had bought Manhattan island from the unsuspecting natives for $26.00. The Brits and the locals took a lesson from that. It's a lesson Yankees have carried forward to the present wherever money, fairness, values are in play.

Gee Publicus, if you don't like the guy just say so in 20 words or less. Stop showing off your amazing writing skills. smile.png

They've got her

RT @OiChutima: Former PM Yingluck Shinawatra arrived to report as ordered at the Army Club in Bangkok.

She turned up of her own free will - it's not as if they captured her. If you're a Brit I suspect you would have been a Sun reader.

You know that in many places in Thailand it almost seems a national past-time to have competitions where guys take those little birds in cages and listen to them sing, prizes being given to the bird that sings the best. I just wonder how much all these 'birds' are singing now that are currently being summoned by the army. Now that would be a delightful thing to watch. I bet each one is trying to sing louder than the other in order to avoid a jail term for corruption. But but he............ I wish they would televise it!

Meanwhile the corrupt other half of the elites, based in Bangkok and Nakon Si Thammarat-Phuket, retain their self-issued license to pursue their financial interests without limit or laws, and are presently consulting their accountancy firms to estimate the trillions of baht value in soon to be confiscated assets of the group that was just removed from any and all competition.

While the Thais and fahlang alike are hoarding at 7-Eleven and Tesco, the deeply rooted corrupt other half are hoarding at the SET and running the board in the corporate boardrooms. The kids just took over the candy store, the whole of it, to include the richest toy soldier generals in the world.

What comes to mind reading your post is "demagogy".

I don't even know what "demagogy" means rubl. All I could think of was "bs".

democracy does not work here..

.there are elections and one party does not like the outcome and attempts to have the results overturned.

they succeed and now the army is in power..

perhaps the army should stay in power, so the elite city dwellers can continue to oppress the poor

who will have no voice because the popular vote, the majority vote is not accepted by the losers... .

who will always have some excuse to invalidate the results they dont like ...

like the voters were bribed...or someone was promised this or that...

so the perfect becomes the enemy of the good.

until the poor decide to riot and anarchy ensues and the chaos rules.

and the cycle repeats itself as those who fail to learn from history ...

democracy will never work here

You need to get your facts straight. The Democrats did accept the election result in 2011 and operated as the opposition until December last year.

Just shows how much you know. Not a lot.

Thaksin first made money selling IBM computers to police departments. Then he had a telecommunications monopoly.

He was already a billionaire before he entered politics.

I'm not a Thaksin supporter, but, I'm against stupid ignorance (your post).

He was already in politics at the time. You need to read Taksins CV a bit more accurately.

No, you need to look. He entered politics in 1994. AIS was a monopoly in 1986.

Check the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaksin_Shinawatra

Apology accepted.

Thaksin was a self made man. He was a billionaire. Thailand's economy grew at the fastest pace in 25 yrs. His only error was in supporting the more poor majority party in Thailand and trying to uplift the poorer communities in Thailand. Of course, the minority Dems/PDRC/Elite/Military hate this fact. The only illegal act that Thaksin is even accused/found guilty of is a relatively small land deal that his wife signed for. They bid on a land and used his wife's name. This was deemed a conflict of interest. So lets not be misleading. He has never been found to be stealing money from the Thai People. It was a simply conflict of interest. He failed to report that his wife was the buyer of the land.

If anyone has any other illegal acts that he has been charged/found guilty of, please show me.

There are several other cases waiting I believe if he ever returns. Until then it's not possible to say if he's done anything else wrong.

As much as I do not support Yingluck as I think she did no good for the country at all this is not a good thing.

Yingluck is not a politician anymore, she is effectively a civilian and the Military are not the courts. If it is proved she has done something wrong it is down to the courts to convict her, it is not the place of the military.

If the military are there to keep peace and smooth the transition to new elections after reform then that could, maybe end up being a good thing but if the General becomes a law unto himself that's not good at all.

To be strictly accurate it should read business tycoon turned politician turned billionaire business tycoon. Thaksin entered politics in 94 and became a billionaire as a result of the 1997 Asian Financial crisis when the baht was devalued at which time he was a Deputy Prime Minister.

It’s not that we don’t believe in democracy, it’s just that for the sake of the nation we can only allow democracy that selects the right people. Our history has proven to us over and over than the work of good men is the only proven source of prosperity, and any threats to that prosperity must be eradicated. Thaksin and any party under his control is a republican movement that uses carefully staged propaganda and the allure of a charismatic personality to cover up the truth. The sad thing is that the truth is readily available to anyone who is willing to look beyond his bubble of like-minded peers and read some actual history. But they’re too brainwashed to accept the fact that their hero is an autocrat, a self-serving elitist, and a collaborator with foreign powers.

You may well watch a lot of porn, but when it comes to posting on Thai Visa, it is usually considered courtesy to credit the source when copying and pasting.

In your case Not The Nation seems to be the source.

Second to last paragraph.. Why not post the link then we could enjoy the whole article? Oh I did.

You say to me, "I take it you never spent a single day in the military." You take it and presume wrongly so you have missed a great deal in my posts over the years.

I did four years U.S. Army ROTC at university and four years in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer of Infantry.

I don't fear the U.S. military as I'm not Taliban, Al Qaeda, a traitor, nor do I abduct young girls in Africa etc. I don't fear the Thai military either, but I'm not Thai nor was I elected to office in a legitimate democratic election in Thailand, a country that is presently experiencing its 19th military mutiny coup d'état or coup attempt.

I don't have to fear the arbitrary military mind that has illegitimately seized state power and that is now and again plowing its way through another unarmed civilian government to dispense military justice.

Or do I?

Do you know that military justice is to justice as military music is to music?

No you don't know.

What a waste, Mr Honorary Thai General officer.

I wouldn't know where to start but here's a few. Anyone entering politics in Thailand must declare their assets. During his tenure it was found his driver had over 500M Baht in his savings account his maid had over 200M and his kids/relatives had BILLIONS! He also illegally changed the law selling AIS which included Thailand's satellite to Tamasek of Singapore pocketing more BILLIONS! tax free and compromising Thailand's National Security.

So please go an %#&^ yourself because you are full of &**%^!
