Ming has put you off the 645Z then?

MT: 99% of what 645z can do, so can Nik 800E/810.

I would'nt bother if I was you, irregardless of what you think you want.

You could just buy an olympus mirrorless camera and do away with the aweful DSLR.

Makes sense really.

Hell for 12 tho quid, you could buy a P&S and a car to drive it around in. ;)

Sorry to hear that M.

Do you need to engage professional help to achieve proper reimbursement for your employment with lack of payment. I don't know the story but hope you have some recourse for addressing the issue.

I hold a nuclear option.

Deffo!!!

I'm hooked.

^^^ I'm not gonna start the D810 thread until I get my hands on mine & I must wait

until November for that. Anything beforehand would most likely be...simply not on.

Unless Neverdie wants to start it in a couple weeks after he & his get theirs. No

matter...

DigitalRev are shipping now.

The firm agreed by the way. biggrin.png But I'm still on the fence because I've spent a bit of this year laid up with the diabetes and this has hit cash flow.

^^^ MJP...I will never buy a new Nik as soon as it hits the market these days.

There are too many problems with Nik at present regardless what reviews

say and I have posted some experiences starting with first issue F4's up

to the D3X...including both my 800 & 800E of which the 800 had a serious

focus problem and Nik simply replaced the camera and the 800E had the

same thing...also replaced...in another thread The D3x had a buffer

problem...not replaced, so I sold it off to someone who didn't care & bought

the two 800's. I had a spot problem initially with my D7K and it was replaced

with a later issue D7K.

There are only 3 digital Niks that I have owned which I have never had any

problems with...the D2x, D300S & the D700.

The F4 had a condensation problem which effected the metering system

as the F4 base design was targeted at Japan, Europe & N America where

humidity, albeit a concern, is nothing compared to what humidity can do

in Southeast Asia...like completely wreck the camera's metering system.

And that it did very well. This was reluctantly fixed by Nik introducing the

F4S/F4E..only real dif was the battery grip between the two. The F5 & F6

are flawless in that humidity regard. Flawless in every regard IMO.

So...I have a photog mate coming out in mid November from NYC. If I

do not hear or read any negative stuff about the 810, even the slightest

hiccups, he will bring me one. But...if the 810 is a Nik disaster...he won't.

Simple as that.

I would have switched to Canon a long ways back but....I have too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

invested in Nik glass. That's the kick in the balls matey.

Now see here's the rub. 5D MkIV should be out early 2015 and rumours about new smokin' hot sensor tech are out there. The other reason for Canon is the short registry distance which means you can adapt lenses (to infinity, without optical adapters), Nik, M42, Pentax K etc, something I think is great.

Don't buy Digi Rev or SLR hut if your in Europe, come the time you need to send it to a service centre they won't touch it.

Non European MPN serial numbers I am led to believe.

I may be talking out my clacker but thought I would post it, maybe someone can elaborate further.

I know that if you buy in Hong Kong and take it to the HK service centre, they will clean your lenses even if it needs dismantling and your sensor for bugger all, while you wait.

Wow, I never realized there have been so many problems over the years....yes heard about oil spot issues and what not but didn;t know Nik's quality control was so bad.

You have however pushed me towards a D700 though when I upgrade, which was kind of my next step anyway, so many users rate that camera.

Yeah...Nik's got heaps of problems and they know it which is why

I reckon the D810 will turn out great. Nik cannot afford to have another

cockup...period.

D700 propaganda will be in the PM...

Cheers

Yes of little faith.

It will be okay young (& I use the term loosely) sunny, it will be okay.

We got Nikon D300s # 00000002, a Thai built Camera and were using it a week before othersgot theirs and never a hiccup.

Never had a problem with the D700, nor the D3S either.

The D810, is a cheap camera (on the grand scale of things) so we decided to pre-order again, I have faith all will be okay and if it's not, I will deposit it thru their returns window and get my cash back, simple I think...... fatal last words maybe, don't care really.....it will be okay.

Already spoken to a Thai guy we know, he's already played with one and whilst I couldn't see him over the phone he was all smiles and chirpy sounds, I believe it will be ok. He said something about picking his one up today.

The wife's is also at the shop, so I'm told but we still haven't made it to sydney, although the wife keeps reminding me of the speed limit and questions my desire to sit 20km/h under it. 555555

About a week aft she gets her hand on the camera it will have 3-4k actuations on it and I will let you know.

GET your cash ready sonny, I know it's burning a hole in ur pocket.......u can pick one up for MJP, apparently their a few baht cheaper the dozen ;)
