! Is it genuine

3 Or is it a high cost scam where you call and it drains your phone

4 I am very reluctant to call unknown numbers

All you needed to do was check DTAC's website: http://www.dtac.co.th/en/help/faq/node/615

It is an offshoot of DTAC and in short, switching to them offers better performance (theoretically) than the original DTAC service.

I switched when it first came out and have had no problems.

I got it also and thought it was a scam. Strange you had to dial a code to stop it from happening! I didn't, so guess I'll have this new service then.

If you have a smartphone and use mobile data there may be advantages to convert, but if you are happy with your current service why rock the boat.

When DTAC's GSM concession ends in 2018 you will have to transition.
