But 18 months on, the lack of transparency surrounding the investigation into former Minister for Communications, Posts and Telegraphs U Thein Tun and up to 50 ministry staff has cast doubt on the sincerity of President U Thein Sein’s supposed war on graft. Photo: Staff The case appears to have been buried in a maze of bureaucracy in the Ministry of Home Affairs, with the local police who originally received the complaint still waiting to learn if they should file charges. None of the corruption-fighting bodies that have been formed under U Thein Sein appear to be involved in the investigation or decision-making process. June 11, 201411 yr Author President urges anti-corruption commission to act freelyPresident Thein Sein has urged the anti-corruption commission to act freely in accordance with law during a meeting with ministers and deputy ministers at the presidential palace in Nay Pyi Taw on June 11. The president called for a clean government and administration, congratulating some departments for improving and reprimanding others for being stuck in their old ways.
