I have been told I can get my non-immigrant 'b' visa from bkk, the only condition being that I have 21 days remaining on my tourist visa. I appear to have all the correct paper work intact. This would save me many thousand Bahts but is it true?

Any advice or warnings?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can apply at your local immigration office for a change of visa category, using form TM .86. Fee 2000 Baht.

Yes you can.

The hardest part for some people and its only needed when you are doing a change from a tourist transit visa is you will need to have "Documents providing evidence of education ; Job experience of foreign national. "

Which is having your diploma notarized at your Embassy in Bangkok( if your college diploma is in a different language than English, it must be translated and certified) after it is notarized by the Embassy, it must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs twice.

The other requirement which ebbs and flows on Immigration requiring it, is letters from your past Employers for the past 5 years stating your position and salary. Other times a resume will work.

You will also need

Application for Visa Status Alteration. (TM.86)

Copy of passport entries.

4 X 6 cm photograph.

Application fee of 2,000 baht.

Company letter requesting for Visa Status Alteration.

Employment contract. (Labor Dept.)

A letter of guarantee to certify commercial registration.

Company registration certificates.

VAT registration certificate and the lists of company Board of Directors.

The latest financial statement. (Balance sheets ; Profit & loss statement)

Company income tax or trading tax returns.

Documents providing evidence of education ; Job experience of foreign national.

Withholding Tax records.

BOI letter application for changing visa.

Our professional fee is 3,900 Baht plus 7% Vat to handle the change.

What is involved and how long would it take to get my Degree notarized

, my school have requsted I get my visa asap. As I am in Chaing Mai it may be easier/quicker to go to Vientiane. I will go to immigration and obtain this form (TM.86) just in case this notorizing of degree is an easier proposition than I am, at present, thinking.

Depends if your diploma is in English or iot has to be translated. Depends on the embassy and if you pay for the super rush at the Ministry of foreign Affairs. Could take two days to two weeks or more.
