Bmw 5 F10 series roof liner loose

Featured Replies

My car seems to have a rattling noise coming from the rear when on bumpy and uneven roads. It doesn't happen all the time but it does the sound is noticeable. I had a look to see if I could figure out where it is coming from, and noticed that the roof liner in the rear, where the third brake light is looks loose. I can pull it just a little and make a nice gap, if I pull hard enough it will probably come off. I'm pretty sure that is where the noise is coming from cause when pulling on it slightly makes a similar noise to what I've been hearing.

I took the dealer to have them look and they told me that it was normal, which I find hard to believe. I should've looked at one of the cars in the showroom to see if it was true but didn't get a chance. Wondering is anyone who has a 5 series noticed the same.

2011 525D with 110,000 km. No squeaks or rattles from anywhere. The liner looks ok on my car.

i had the exact problem, the cover right under the shark fin was the problem, after 5 times servicing they decided to order a new cover and since then i dont have any problem except all other problems, next time i will buy a benz , never a bmw from thailand again.

How old is your car? Mine is less than a year old, I took it in a couple times and they claim it was fixed but still hearing the noise.

Barty, thanks I had my doubts that it could that loose.

I have a E39 and it is a great drive.

Have your tried to take it to Barcelona Motors? They do a very good service.

How is the F10? Will like to see the car and help you out if u are in Bangkok.

I have the 525d F10 and it drives great, overall I am very happy but the rattling is annoying especially since it is normally very quiet.

Haven't tried Barcelona yet as I have heard it can take while as they service a lot if cars. I went to Amorn Prestige on Ratchada as they are fairly new and the wait wasn't too long, but might give Barcelona a try soon.
