Popular Post big carl
Sorry but I could only take about 8 minutes of his nonsense. He states that out of 100 that come into the rooms after 90 days only 5 are left. Could well be. But how many come back some many times. I heard a tape once of Ebby the man who had carried the message to Bill Wilson one of the co founders of AA. He went out often. In his tape he said even though he kept slipping he still had 12 years of sobriety out of the last 14 years. What kind of a record has liferingasia got? The part of the tape I watched was nothing more than a sales pitch arranged in San Francisco for a lecture. In AA and NA there is only one condition for membership you admit you are an Alcoholic or a Drug addict. There are no musts what so ever. If you are an atheist that is fine. I know several people who are. One with over 40 years. He says when he was in a fox hole in Korea he did not pray. He did not because he did not believe there was a god and yet here he is over 4o years sober in AA and no one says any thing wrong about it. He says he doesn't want to drink. He does not need skype and a prearranged time to use it. In AA and NA they have 12 steps that are suggestions no must call at 5:00 or 8:00. Is recommended you call some one if you feel the need of help. No fancy electronics needed. An old fashion dial phone will do the trick. You can meet people personally and some times form good friendships and in some cases learn to stay away from some. There is all kinds of people and they are all equal no matter what. A priest may have an atheist for his sponsor. Or he may not have one. A doctor can have a labor for his sponsor or he may choose not to have one. The only must is a desire to stop doing it. to make it easy on every one they took the word honest out of it. In the programs they are equal. I digress I am sure there are people it will work for but when he starts off with a negative and fails to mention the result ten years later I get suspicious. I know many who have come back and stayed sober. He talks about a councilor crying because he could not cure the people in 90 days. What kind of nonsense is that. He might have asked how many of them wanted it. Most of them were probably there for reasons such as save a job make the wife happy make the husband happy. Get the parents off their back every thing except they want to stop. These too are among the 100 people to walk into the rooms only to leave before three months. I am relatively sure you will find some success in liferingasia. But please do not misrepresent the other methods. There are many and if you read through the threads on this forum you will find others with some successes. Even some self will power ones.
Neeranam
This guy is an idiot. First he says that someone can't be all A and there must be an S, then later around 23-24 min he talks about someone being 100% A! He doesn't even know how to use a marker pen that isn't permanent! So after 14 years how many meeting do they have worldwide? I see there was one meeting in the Uk in 2001 but after 13 years there are none ! Some success. Why all the comparison with AA? I started an AA meeting once in Thailand and within a couple of years there were 25 new meetings in the area, which , btw were not and still aren't religious in the slightest. GrahamF
AA people get so defensive! Not really, just tiring when people who really don't understand the program of AA bash and pontificate on it. There is so much to say, but the best advice I can give you Tominbkk is to stick to your program and not worry so much about how others are staying sober. If you don't you might be drinking before you know it and you might end up going down that "rabbit hole."

If he had been through what many of us had he also would be a little defensive if he discovered a method of staying sober for the rest of his life.

I'll take a little bait anyway- Cult; a. A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader. First, there is no leader in AA. Second, It's not 'extreme' whatsoever. And honesty is key. 'False' will land you on your butt again. And third, the solution is to live life on life's terms - NOT unconventionally. In fact AA is stridently NOT religious. Religion is for people afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for those that have been there. You do NOT have to believe in any damn thing at all inn AA. You can be atheist, agnostic, or pastafarian. If anyone tells you different in AA ...send 'em my way. Edited July 18, 2014 by ding
