Hun sen orders price of passports cut to $4
Sat, 21 June 2014

Prime Minster Hun Sen yesterday issued a sub-decree mandating that passports for migrant workers and those studying abroad on scholarship cost only $4, and that the passports be delivered to applicants in no more than 20 days.

The announcement came after some 200,000 undocumented migrant workers streamed back into Cambodia from Thailand due to a crackdown on illegal labourers there.

The mandate is similar to past sub-decrees setting the price of passports for workers and students at $24.

The last time I had to get passports done for my staff, it was more like USD 150.00.

I've never known anyone to get it for less. And goes up to over $300 to get on in a hurry.

Will be interesting to see what the "$4" one works out to really be.
