Hello,

I think the Thai law allows European tourists to enter the country with a passport and a one-way ticket. Right ?

But I've heard stories about airlines. It is forbidden to board the plane if you have a one-way ticket to Thailand, for example with Air France.

What about Ukraine Airlines? How do I know if I could check-in with a one-way ticket?

I'm going to Thailand to study in three weeks, but I'm late to ask my Visa in my country (Belgium) :'-(

Thanks for your help.

if you do not have a visa you need a ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival. All airlines can ask for it.

Three weeks should be more than enough time to get a visa. You could get a single entry tourist visa.

The rule about having an exit ticket is not often applied (although, theoretically, the airline would be liable to a hefty fine and paying your return trip if you are refused entry in Bangkok). You can either : BOOK a ticket to somewhere cheap like Phnom Penh beforehand, or WAIT until the airline gets difficult and then rush off to a travel agent and book or buy a ticket to PP. Or even a bus ticket. It's about having proof of onward travel, not a return ticket.

Why not get a Visa, only takes 3 days in Brussels or the Thai Consulate in Antwerp, not understand the problem.

I am Belgium did it many times, no hassle.

I fly a lot and airlines almost always check for my visa when flying from Europe back to Thailand. Just because they did not ask you at check-in does not mean that they did not for check it. They are financially responsible to return you if you are refused entry so they are not casual about it.

Get a visa.

Thank you for all !

A Thai friend just told me that for now, immigration was very strict with what's happening in Thailand. I think I'll have to book a return ticket to Belgium and to cancel arrived there. What company do you recommend for a full refund without any reason the air ticket?

In this thread, people tell me to get any ticket to another country : http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/736570-one-way-ticket-from-hong-kong-to-thailand-with-air-asia/?p=8014737

I copy my answer here :

It's a bit complicated to travel around Thailand with flexibility and finish to get a Visa ED.

So, I think I will book a new air ticket to Burma (I want travel this beautiful country).

So I will :

- ask a tourist Visa in my embassy in Belgium (double entry)

- stay 10 days in Thailand

- do my trip in Hong-Kong

- come back in Thailand about 40 days and ask for a Visa Education (ED) because I want stay in Thailand for studying

- ask a re-entry permit

- and then, go to Burma for short trip, and then come back in Thailand with a good Visa ED with re-entry permit

So, Belgium -> Thailand -> Hong-Kong -> Thailand (ask Visa ED) -> Burma -> Thailand.

With all these tickets, all no have any problem :-s

Do you think it's a good idea ?

Anyway, in Hong-Kong, if I have any problem to come back Thailand, I can probably book a flight ticket to Burma in an Air Asia office ? Am I right ?

You can use an onward ticket you don't need a return ticket.

You could buy a ticket to Myanmar or any other nearby country. Air Asia has a good website where you can buy your tickets on line.

Ubonjoe, if I haven't ticket yet in my return in Hong-Kong, is it good to book it in an Air Asia office at Hong-Kong ??? Just asking ;-) Anyway, I think I will probably book this ticket before going to Hong-Kong and keep it in hand when I going back to Thailand.

I don't think have any offices where you can buy tickets anywhere other than at airports. You might find a travel agent that would do it.
