.......but......but......but it wasn't them......it was the fascist `Suthep and the mad monk.....not good red people!!!!

Actually it was both sides involved in violence.

yeah with a ratio of about 10 to 1 for the reds thumbsup.gif

Well, that would depend when the count starts from. Some people refer to the current round, some include 2010, some

go further back to the PAD demonstrations. Each side got a different count.

Me, I think it would be good if they got any wrongdoers up on charges. Being an imperfect world, would settle for getting

whomever they can locked up. Don't believe anything has gone legally stale yet, so there's always hope. The fact that

other wrongdoing where committed does not excuse others nor does it mean someone needs to go unpunished.

This score keeping is immaterial, in my opinion, from either the view point of involved and hurt families or from the view

point of trying to heave this country forward. Perpetrators and their senders need to be held accountable, period.

If people believe that by paying the farmers that the north it will get the dems back in then I'm afraid you are sadly deluded!

They were shunned and disenfranchised for far to long by the yellow elite and made them pay and it will happen next time.

All these feel good headlines and propaganda that you guys are swallowing hook line and sinker will mean nothing by the time elections come around.

Yingluck and thaksin are very much in the picture and enjoy widespread popularity and any shinawatra who chooses to stand will enjoy enormous support purely on the back of what has happened over the past 8 years.

Move on?i

I think not!

If the reform doesn't address the vote buying and intimidation (red shirt villages etc), then you are probably correct. However I'm pretty sure that they will be tackled as they've already set about opening up the red villages.

If YL (unlikely) or another Shin gets back into power then we'll see another repeat of the raping of Thailand's economy and yet another coup to stop the rot.

What's badly needed is some new thinking and political parties with some sort of ideology who set about tackling the country's multitude of problems without too much of a personal gratification agenda.

Can it happen? Yes. Will it happen? Doubtful.

The Shins have made a big mess out of Thailand. People all over Thailand now can see that it can be done better, much better.

Not everybody shares your love for Takki and his corrupt gang.

Move on. Educate yourself and stop supporting criminals. Soon you will see the light too. thumbsup.gif

Really? If I recall correctly the Shins have only been ousted by 2 coups, there were 10 before this as well as mass protests by the rice farmers (1970s peasant revolts and 1992 protests). If anything the Shins have woken people up, the red shirts started off as pro-thaksin but has evolved into something far deeper now.

You're in fantasy land; but we've known that a long time. They are done for. Whats up with your obsession and praise for 3rd world level oligarchies and fiefdoms; who prey as parasites on the back of the poor by using them and using populist ideas so sucker them in.

They went way down in popularity, especially the rice scheme, as well as progress Prayuth & co. have made in cleaning up all the riff raff.

Not that I do not hope you are right about Thaksin & Co. being a thing of the past, but that was pretty much what was said

on other occasions and prior to two other general elections. Saying it does not make it so (unless you're Picard), and it will

probably take more time to gauge if their influence and appeal have diminished.

and so the propaganda war and discrediting of the UDD begins and then it will be PTP politicians, because the ruling elite who are now in power, daren't have another election until all the leaders are either jailed or banned from politics as that is the only way their political party - the 'Democrats' will ever win.

So it's just propaganda against the UDD for you? Red Shirts caught with war weapons immediately after bombing the NACC, nah, propaganda. More Red Shirts caught with weapons used in the Trat terrorism attack, never happened, all propaganda; the Red Shirt that confessed to throw grenades that killed two children in the same attack, also propaganda, right? A hall full of Red Shirt local leaders celebrating those murders, all Junta propaganda; Red Shirts announcing attacks before they happen, also a plant by the Junta. Etc, etc...

Congratulations, you have reached the apologist's Nirvana, you achieved complete detachment from reality in favour of your pure, uncomplicated and self serving ideal world.

They have evidence, so likely they know who is involved in some of the cases, all they need is to round up a few of them and make them squeal, which they certainly will do, and I hope it ends in an almighty domino topple and leads right to the door of the UDD leaders.

We all know that they have been implicit in all these murders, and we also know on who's word.

Let's all hope that as I suspect, the names Jatuporn. Thida, Nattawut, Surapong and Chalerm come out in the wash... The biggest bonus names will be Thaksin and Yingluck.

The UDD is deffo going to become an outlawed organization, and I doubt they will be able to just reinvent themselves under a new name.

Would also be nice if certain police are named as being involved in both the actions taking place and the cover ups and who ordered the investigations to be stifled.

The 'red shirts' are coming to their end.

Post of the Year BY FAR wai2.gifwai2.gifwai2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif

The persons in charge of the interrogations must be wear ear protectors due to high volume of squealing right now and it will lead to the likes of Nat, Jat and theedar and because of this it is almost a certainty that that reptile in Dubai will never be able political represent himself or be represented by his simpleton siblings ever again. One more thing to add I wish the powers that be ( and what a brilliant job they are doing right now ) would stop focusing on some silly little hairdresser in London and channel their energies into getting their hands on that slug Amsterdam because his hate speech contained enough evidence of sedition, incitement etc... to much more easily strengthen an extradition request than a mickey mouse facebook page.

No they haven't evolved, unfortunately. Some of the smaller groups such as the Nitipat were not Shin-connected but the main body is still controlled by Thaksin mercenaries and their violent off-shoots are quite prepared to kill for Thaksin.

When they do evolve into something separate (say a new party) that'll be the day when Thai politics move towards maturity.

I just wonder if the yellows on here will be making the same statements when they start rounding their violent thug wing!

And as for statements like thaksin and yingluck and the shin clan is finished and irrelevant.

I wouldn't be counting the chickens before they hatch!

There will be an election one day!

But convicted criminals can't stand in an election. One out of two down. Even the Shins can't be arrogant enough to try a blanket amnesty again....... can they/

The bbc's Jonathan head seems to think not, articles a bit old but it gets the point a x http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-27735992

The BBC's Jonathan Head isn't so much a red shirt sympathizer as an out and out red shirt supporter His coverage of the PDRC protests and marches was at best sarcastic, jaded, uninterested and on occasion out and out lies ( the second report from Udon Thani in which he interviewed that woman and what she said was an absolute lie ) he literally has to travel to a back of nowhere swamp in Udon to find anybody who shares his opinions and then proceeds to give mist eyed, hand wringing coverage of red shirt issues. Bearing in mind what is happening right now to proper journalists in Cairo he should be counting his lucky stars he still works in Thailand.

His reporting beggars belief. But, unless people complain to the BBC and maybe even their MP, it will simply continue.

Sounds like you are advocating a similar Cairo experience for journalist in Thailand.I can see nothing wrong with his reporting. At least he gives the facts and doesn't try to tell the readers what he thinks they want to hear.Perhaps you would like to mention some of his coverage you found to be sarcastic, jaded, uninteresting, and lies. And as for "that woman" where were you in the room when she talked to him? Just to finish up.Can you tell me your criteria for determining who, in your esteemed opinion, is a proper journalist?

Describing working class PDRC supporters as ULTRA right wing elitists, sarcasm when reporting the payment by the Military Govt to desperate farmers J Head quote "which is ironic really when you think about the criticisms of PTP populist policies", and as for that 2nd report from Udon What that red shirt lady said simply cannot be quoted here and if you'd seen it you'd know why. And to answer your question an objective, enthusiastic journalist who puts forward all sides of a story, which involves conflict, with equal measure J Head simply does not do this.

You can try and spin it and call it 'propaganda war and discrediting' all you want, but all sane and rational people know that that is total bs and that it is merely commupence for their crimes which you and the rest of the brainwashed red sheeple conveniently forget about because it doesn't suit your agenda. If they had done nothing wrong I may agree with you, since they have done almost everything wrong and we know it, also that it has been backed up with lots of proof already before the 'coup' and lots more to come now the police are doing their job properly at long last since the army are watching them, you really have no rational argument to make....

It might be nice if Jonathan Head would now, in the interests of balance, go and interview people in other parts of Thailand. But then he would have to rationalise their relaxed, or even welcoming, attitude towards the martial-law & coup ?

The impressions one received in the UK during the takeover, from his efforts for the BBC & from reporting on Sky-News or even Al-Jazeera, compared to what I actually found when I returned to North-West Thailand, was quite noticeably different.

Perhaps the journalists got carried-away, in the apparent heat-of-the-moment, or perhaps their sources had been less balanced than one might have hoped ? wink.png

No doubt they will rush to set matters straight, now that the police are finally investigating more of what went on, during the anti-government protests ?

Not a fan of J. Head - but I don't think there can currently be any interviews with locals not expressing "relaxed, or even

welcoming" attitudes toward the martial law and the coup.

I hope so Ricardo but I won't hold my breath. Incidentally that Thai guy ( I am sorry I can't remember his name ) actually does give straight and balanced coverage on Channel News Asia and the reason why, one can assume is because he is Thai and does not have a western journalist's agenda.

Well, knock me down with a feather!

As for Jonathan Head - he should have known, and he should know now, that it is the job of a good foreign correspondent to report events accurately as they happen, and not as he / she would wish them to happen.

BBC needs to bring Mr. Head back to London or assign him to another area of the world, he's as stale as a month old loaf of bread in SEA. He is even more predictable than Mr. Amsterdam.

But nowhere near as smart (as Mr A) , not that I have any respect for Mr. Amsterdam.

The problem with Jonathon Head's coverage is that it is biased to the PTP/UDD side and he consistently fails to give a balanced report from any other side.
